Northern Shoveller (Anas clypeata) only a few metres offshore in West Pond, Thomson Marsh, Kelowna, BC. There is a buffer of cattails, however, between the shore and where one can stand to photograph, so this shot is still considerably cropped. It's interesting how small a part of this large pond to which he confines himself. The church of Agia Marina is situated approximately 3 km east from the centre of Deryneia and is inside the United Nations buffer zone.
The chapel is a listed ancient monument. The main part of the chapel is believed to date back to the 12th century. Linked to it with a passage is a second chapel that possibly dates to the 15th century. The complex is built over a cave with holy water.
