So so weird to be doing this walking tour of streetart in an area that is bizarrely empty of streetart.... the only non-Tate streetart was in the local park, or, like this, buffed
On the Tate Modern Streetart walking tour - an exhibition on the streets.... well, except for the pieces that have mysteriously disappeared... a lovely day out with flickrrs Niznoz, Moufle, Dr joolz and TT... strange going on a graff walking tour in an area that is completely devoid of non-Tate graff.... strange seeing this part of Southwark in its new incarnation of yuppy flats and tourism (it wasn't like that when I was growing up in SE London...), but totally worth getting up at 5.30 am for! And I *never* thought I'd say that ever!
The buff-crested bustard lacks a hind toe and thus cannot perch, so they are limited to walking on the ground and cannot roost in trees. It has a buff protrusion of feathers off the back of the head and neck which gives it it's name.

On the way back round the Buff-breasted Sandpiper was in the same place as reported in the morning, along with around 6 Curlew Sandpipers! Both firsts for me, and giving excellent views. I wish I had gone there first as by this time it was awful light. I took what must have been between 100-200 photos of which nearly all went in the bin. This one probably came out the best, although it was over exposed to get the light, then darkened in PS. Equipment: Canon 450D, 400mm f5.6.
Ponderosa State Park, Idaho. Part of a 15 minute battle between a female Common Goldeneye and a mother Bufflehead. The Goldeneye came from a nest cavity in the forest and immediately began attacking the Bufflehead as soon as she reached the marsh. The Goldeneye continued to attack, including searching
out and chasing after the 6 Bufflehead chicks.
