My first close encounter with this species, it came so close to the hide that I had trouble framing the shot. These shots are close to full frame and in very bad light conditions but for first shots they are probably OK!
The Buff-banded Rail is a quite secretive bird and doesn't stay in the open for very long. There are a few of these and some Crakes around the water edges of nearby receding swamps where they dart out of dense Lignum undergrowth to feed on insects.
Her rear end got smushed earlier, but Carlos buffed out the already-good repair job to look brand new.
Terry (me) and Niki (my fag hag) wore the same exact outfit to work today. I swear we are to die for...

A baby Buff Orpington Chick nestles into the feathers on the back of a young Barred Rock. The Barred Rock is only 8 weeks old.

Catherine Jochens adopted our little Buff who we say is a schnauzer raccoon mix. Catherine thought that he was wonderful and took him home.
