Bubbles, bubbles, bubbles and even more bubbles everywhere. Each little, and sometimes not so little, bubble is desperately delicate but its colour is amazing and though it lives for only a short while, its time is spent filling our hearts with colour, joy, happiness and the screams of childrens delight. Most get popped before they can get anywhere, while the odd survivor catches the wind and somehow manages to float happily away...

Note: image taken with a Canon 5D mounted on a Manfrotto 055CB Professional Tripod - subject lit by two Canon 580EX flashes (fired by a Canon Speedlite wireless remote transmitter ST-E2) positioned on either side and bounced off large white boards. Processed in Photoshop CS3.

for NOW YOU, the assignment: whimsy.

things didn't really go as planned. i hoped to take some photos during the beautiful golden hour, with backlit sunshine, but i just couldn't get to my favorite, private spot until the sun was already pretty much down. darn!

i might have to try this again. but i also want to go for something a little more silly. i wish i had a whole day just to play!

You can use this pattern but please credit/link back to me :)

And show me what you have used it for ^_^

It looks cool viewed larger. :)

Well truth be told, I don't have any fictitious figures lying around the house. I looked just about everywhere and nothing. My friend Helen is hosting the Macro Mondays group this week so I wanted to come up with something for the theme. I decided it was time to widen the search, my son Daniel happened to be home so it was time to see what he had. Well Daniel has all kinds of fictitious action figures that come as models and he assembles. Both my son's grew up in the war gaming world, my one son designs them for a living and Daniel enjoys putting them together. I chose Unicorn, a derivation of the original Gundam, a little warrior ready for battle. I'm good with that and that's the extent of my knowledge so please no questions. I will add you're looking at 1.5 inches from the tip of his helmet wing thing to the bottom of the red marking on the shield he's holding. Shot with one light off to the left and some fairy lights in the back, for my good bokeh friends, sorry no bubbles from the Voigtlander...

Shot with: VOIGTLANDER, 125mm f/2.5 SL, MACRO APO-LANTHAR, shot @ f/4.0, 31 Layer Focus Stack Rendered w/Helicon Focus, (B,R5,S3).

Shot while my daughter played with bubbles in the yard. Edited portrait style.

This weeks Macro Monday entry for 'in a bottle'. Bubbles seen through the bottom of a 330ml coke bottle.

The way that picture turned out was a real surprise for me. I Just wanted to capture the drops on the grasses in front and I did not know this lens could make such a wonderful bokeh. Maybe I don't need my Trioplan any more ;)

This guy is awesome, I could watch him for hours.

At -1 degrees I went out to create ice bubbles. Some did freeze, but these would not. Thought they still looked pretty though.

I was walking down Market Street today and a guy was throwing soap bubbles up into the air. I thought I would take a picture of one and just as I pressed the camera button, it burst!

I used some glasses upside down. Mixed washing up liquid, water and some glycerine. Glycerine is great as it makes the bubbles stronger and last ages. (Excellent for water drops too) . I then put my mix on top of the glass the. Used a paper straw to gently blow a bubble.

Just playing around in the house.
