A portrait bear capture from my recent Finland wildlife safari The image was captured around 6-30pm, two hours before the sunset on the first night in the hides The image appeals to me as the bears are generally reserved and cautious I think the image shows this behaviour..

A pair of Red Browed Finches were playing in the bush with the late afternoon sun in the background. One hopped out and sat in wait of a photo.

This little fellow had no fear of me what-so-ever, he was eating seeds from a She-oak nut.

The Red-browed Finch is most easily recognised by its bright red eyebrow, rump and beak, on an otherwise green and grey bird. Upperparts are olive green with grey underneath. Both sexes are similar in appearance. Often observed in small flocks, which feed on the grass. They will fly into dense undergrowth when disturbed by a passer-by. Red-browed Finches may also be called Red-browed Firetails.

So bright and beautiful, but quite difficult to approach. Found this one working in the long grass beside a local shared path.

These little darlings are rather timid and will quickly fly away if approached. I decided to sit down and be patient, and after a bit of time, they started to become more relaxed and weren't bothered by me being nearby. A rewarding experience :-)

Mount Martha, Victoria, Australia.

9 November 2016.

The White-browed Coucal is a member of the Cuckoos family (Cuculidae) mainly found in sub-Saharan Africa. It is not a brood parasite like some members of the family. This bird was in Nairobi National Park.

A bird that skulks and so is more often heard rather than seen. I managed to catch this one in a rare moment of exposure. One of my favourite birds to see with its bright red brown and yellow chest.
