There's nothing quite like being ~60km offshore, surrounded by the endless ocean, where the skies come alive with the birds of the deep blue.
White-browed bulbul is a resident breeder in Sri Lanka and peninsular India. Largely olive coloured above with whitish underparts, it has a pale supercilium and a yellow vent. They are found in dense scrub habitats, where they skulk within vegetation and can be difficult to see although their loud and distinct burst of calls is distinctive.
White-browed bulbuls are usually seen singly or in pairs. They forage within bushes for fruit, nectar and insects. The breeding season is spread out from March to September and may possibly breed twice a year.
Seen on December in Avissawella, Sri Lanka
Red-browed finches are small, colorful birds native to eastern Australia, easily recognized by their distinctive red eyebrow stripe, red rump, and olive-green back. They are social birds, often seen in flocks foraging for seeds and insects in grassy areas, woodlands, and gardens. These finches build dome-shaped nests in dense vegetation and are known for their cheerful chirping, making them a common sight and sound in their natural habitats.

Surfing the wave is this Black-browed Albatross. These guys flew in to the chum that the banders threw out, and to get flying again, they would run seemingly run "on water" before struggling into the air. During the course of the pelagic, the SOSSA banders caught and banded a Wandering Albatross, Wedge-tailed Shearwater, and White-chinned Petrel; the latter being rare to the area.

A stunning member of the motmot family, the Turquose-browed Motmot is the national bird of both El Salvador and Nicaragua. Unusually, the species is not sexually dimorphic. Seen at Muyil.
After 3 days of searching we finally managed to see one of the rarest birds to visit the UK, a Black-browed Albatross. It was about 800 yds out to sea but then flew inland and ended up gliding at head height right in front of us. We saw it later with a nesting Gannet colony. An incredible experience.
New release! The skins have also been updated with no brow options.

This Albatross has made Bempton Cliffs its home. It is a stunning bird and great to watch as it glides over the sea.
