old broken rusty locomotive still on rails
- the previous version of the picture appeared too dark on many screens, so I have re-apploaded brighter one

The guitar was in the way of the light switch. Since my daughter knows she isn't allowed to touch the instruments without an adult around she decided to climb up on a chair and reach around the guitar to turn the light on. The photo is the end result. But with a little patience, a few drops of guerilla glue, and a small army of clamps the guitar is in working order once again. It looks like hell but it stays in tune longer now than it did before. Go figure.
A three frame stitch of images taken from Heaney Lookout, Broken Hill NSW Australia. Much of the city is overshadowed by a huge mullock heap - a byproduct of intensive mining for over 130 years of the richest silver-lead-zinc ore body in the world. Close inspection shows the Indian-Pacific train (Adelaide-Sydney) at Broken Hill station. The Miners' Memorial now stands proudly above it all.
"The world breaks everyone and afterward many are strong in the broken places. But those that will not break it kills. It kills the very good and the very gentle and the very brave impartially. If you are none of these you can be sure it will kill you too but there will be no special hurry."

This little "stinkbug" (only name we've ever called them), was busy finding bits of pomegranate. He was able to pick up a piece and try to carry it where I wouldn't bother him. A courageous little beetle.
It really wasn't -45°C (-49°F) outside that day. Usually the thermometer is not displaying anything, but one day it started displaying a rapidly reducing number. It reached -45°C before it went blank again.

I wonder if it was broken while it was being made, or if it broke off in something? Or none of the above. That serrated edge looks nasty. Bonus points for anyone that can give me a link to a site or paper identifying the style. Seen in a canyon in the San Rafael Reef.
A sweet yellow finch highlights this one-of-a-kind mosaic bird's nest.
Shards of vintage china, stones from Rush Run, glass beads and ceramic tiles are wrapped around an old wooden bowl. Bits and pieces of old jewelry add sparkle and shine, while an amber seashell adds texture and color to the nest. The edge of the nest is lined with handcut yellow and green tesserae from a hand-painted bowl from Portugal ... the inspiration for the color palette.
Lovely accessory for the nature enthusiast, bird-lover, and fits in perfectly with any decor, adding and earthy and organic element.

One of four Mercedes-Benz O405s previously operated by Buslink, Broken Hill inherited from Murton Staff 1/1/17. Previous owners were Buses 'R' Us in Adelaide, Busabout in Wagga Wagga, Moorabbin Transit in Melbourne and originally Quince's Scenicruisers in Melbourne. 7427 MO is seen next to 4042 MO at the depot.
Wall at Dortmund harbor. As the photo from yesterday, this shot was taken on my first photo tour with my first dslr.
Way back in May I fell off my skateboard and did some serious damage to my foot and ankle (broken tibia, broken 5th metatarsal, ligament damage on the other side of my ankle) so I've spent the whole summer in a cast. Now I've graduated to a boot but it still sucks.
DONORA, Pa. – The best asset of the Donora Historical Society is its vast collection of old photographs, and the one, above, now ranks among my favorites.

This was the noise I was hearing, and why my car would pull timing and 'fall on it's face' at only partial throttle. False knock anyone?
Damn!. I spent the whole damn evening trying to create an image on the theme of symmetry for the Photo-Focus January competition. But there is always JUST ONE SMALL DETAIL which breaks the symmetry that you don't notice until post processing!
Processing notes for those who are interested.
I actually drew this on paper first BEFORE moving all the bottles of wine.
This is two separate shots - the first taken of the wine rack on the left with those pesky mice. I then (keeping the camera POV and lighting the same, thank you Mr Tripod) swapped all the bottles on the left with those on the right, and then reshot it. I decided that simply flipping the wine rack in Photoshop would be cheating. The lighting was a single strobe at camera left, with a diffuser.
Once I had the shots, I cut out all of the backgrounds from each of the two images and combined them into a single file. To create the shadow, I duplicated the layers, combined them, and filled them with grey. I then distorted the shadow so that it was in approximately the same place as the real shadow, and blurred it to look more natural. This helps to avoid the impression that the wine racks are just floating in space.
No mice were harmed in the creation of this image.
I'm broken
And you didn't notice
How is that i'm all pieces
Can you sum up in one sentence
All that you feel for me
Juggle my tears
With my fierce questions
I'm broken can you fix this
Broke i'm broken
I'm worn out given what i had
You just sip from your own glass
I can't be without you a moment
Without fearing you won't come back
Juggle my tears with my sharp pieces
I'm broken can you fix this
Broke i'm broken
Is your girl of glass something that never mends
Or is she a puzzle that fell
That we could mend again
