I wanted to try one of these things, but I'm not sure if it's "my thing".
I'm definitely better at other editing, haha.
Whatever.
I love Flickr, so much.

A random link failed. Perhaps it was weak from the string-in-the-rear-wheel incident, who knows. The string in the rear wheel meant I was going to have to have the rear derailleur rebuilt. Now it will have to be replaced.
No stress risers no inclusions no thread damage. This crank a Shimano 105 was just broken by a strong rider.

Man all of a sudden every thing on my bike is literally dropping to bits with in the space of days! Next up came on a decent townsend mountain bike, not sure if it was original or not. Unknown history, I used it for approx 2000 miles. I'm amazed what happened, whilst out on a ride I noticed when I lifted the bike up over a stile that the saddle rattled a little, checked to to see what it was as I don't recall it being loose or at least not this much and every thing seemed sound so I just thought oh it's fine, rode all the 8 mile home and put the bike away, every thing normal. Next day I went to lift the bike away from the wall to go for a ride and ping! little bent black piece of metal fell to the ground. Can't believe it fell off then and not when in use! I seem to be pretty jamy when it come to things like this. It must have snapped most of the way through at some point and held on by a little piece for a short while. So the question is would you still dare ride it as is?
Luckily our excellent mechanic was able to fix the problem faster than I could taxi back from the run-up area. We had a nice flight up to Napa and Yolo and some excellent scenery.

Shot after a storm raged Nordre Skøyen Hovedgård in Oslo, Norway in July 2010. During the several hour long storm, lightning struck on average 1000 times per hour.
"You saw my pain, washed out in the rain.
Broken glass; saw the blood run from my veins.
But you saw no fault, no cracks in my heart.
And you knelt beside my hope, torn apart."
I cleaned the glass. I cared
that much, just enough
to wipe clean the sharp clarity
before painting in vivid scarlet with its tip on bare sinner’s skin.
And I wonder often why I did, when so few months later I became so set on throwing it all away.
That clean crystalline shard was a promise; who for,
what to? I’m sure I’ll never know. Lots of things
were taken out of my hands in those days {and I mean that in every single way}.
I fed on every raindroppromise like I was starved for earthly light. That day,
sweltering southern July
on a hill, on a mountain
by the house that smelled of figs
its stairways lined with dolls with glassy, soft eyes that I counted {68 total}
136 eyes
For my 200 or so scars, just those 3 months.
There’ll never be enough hearts, of dolls or otherwise to save
to heal every last one, and that’s only me.
Promise me we’ll be alright?

I see Fidel Castro has made another appearance in public today. Giving a very rare interview on TV. Only to Cuban State TV, of course not exactly hard hitting or revealing. He railed against American involvement in Iran and North Korea......... oh well..... nothing changes with Cuba then .......... although it appears some political prisoners are to be released......... and sent into exile.......... what a vile punishment years in prison..... only to be then banished......... remember this is for people who have done nothing except organize for human rights or criticize their dictators......... . Sorry i mean the leaders of their Socialist Republic.
A writer I once worked with in Cuba said : "Its an odd mix Stalinism and the Caribbean ........ the repressive police state and Caribbean culture seem to be diametrically opposed..... they somehow dwell together here"
This picture for me always captures the authentic feel of Cuba the daily life....... Havana in particular........ It does not capture the police state apparatus but does give you some feel for Havana with the jaded beauty of the architecture as it crumbles from it once glorious past....... the tired poor woman leaning into her old old car that will not start as a man labors on the old 1950's engineering.......... in the foreground is passing a young colorfully dressed beautiful Cuban woman......... This is everything....... the gritty reality......... the grind of real poverty......... living history...........the sensation of romance and passion........ For me this is Cuba........!!!!!!!!

This week's tactic for adventures is: Experimental Travel.
The Lonely Planet Guide to Experimental Travel collects together details of experiments, such as travelling somewhere blindfolded, choosing a destination using a dice, or wearing a horse's head.
My first attempt at Alternating Travel (taking the first road on the right and then the road on the left, etc) was conducted inside the building where I live and ended abruptly when I found myself outside Flat 52.
Deciding to be a little more adventurous, I stepped outside and headed right and then left, right and then left. The first time I was unable to turn left, I found myself outside Southampton Central Station and watched a freight train go by. Next time someone wants directions from my house to the station, I'll easily be able to direct them!
After that, I cheated just a little to avoid dead ends and took a path instead of a road and discovered revealing messages on scraps of paper from other travellers, such as, "I feel that protocol will pay you from tomorrow". After getting into the true holiday spirit of sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll, travelling right and left, right and left, I eventually ended up back at my house, which was quite a coincidence really.

"Broken Hill", Torrey Pines, San Diego, California. From the side, it looks like a hill that has had the middle eroded out. That is the Pacific Ocean in the background.
Part of the "God of Humormystics" Statue that stands at the entrance to the Chateau de La Napoule. An angel with a broken wing who looks down at his navel: he represents the God of Human Love whos narcissism and egocentrism stigmatise the faults of human nature.
All seems a bit heavy to me, but a great subject for my new 60mm f/2,8 micro lens, speedlight & Lightsphere!!!
Tonight we visited the Museum of Broken Relationships, which is in London for a limited period. It's mostly artefacts from broken relationships but there's also some commissioned art thrown in, including this sculpture by George Triggs, Broken.
"She's like broken glass. Once fragile, now dangerous with sharp edges; but beautifully complex."
