I was experimenting with a self-made miniature studio for taking photos of small things using a lightbox. I was really pleased with how this one turned out.
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. --Psalm 51:17

ODC. Playing with Food. Okay .............. I am not too creative and my imagination is under attack due to the rotten weather, dreary skies and muddy landscapes. So, I have been trying to work on inside shots - whether still lifes or macros. I tried to make a kaleidoscope out of broken life saver pieces (cute idea - huh!) Way too tough for me! See my sorry attempt below. ( I could have used this for "over-stretched!)
This was a shot I did for a competition at the local camera club, the title for the competition was "Broken"... it came second, I wish I had a link for the one that came first, it was awesome!
Much better on black, just click on the photo..
Below is yesterday's photo, with the answer to what the flower was, in the form of the original dandelion picture. Thanks for joining the fun :o)
There were two ways I could've approached this - the first was to try to bring out all the detail in the walls, the roof and the floor (and there were some cool details there admittedly). The second was this high contrast look. In the end, the mystery of the dark, negative space won me over.
Big red deer stag with antlers in velvet. Don't think he will be challenging much during the rutting season as he has broken one set of antlers while the other one still grows. Still they all fall off at the end of the year and he can be more careful next year.
On the lightly forested floodplain of Fish Creek, at Fish Creek Provincial Park, southeast Calgary. No green grass yet, this is the pale brown of early spring. Note how the tree trunk is internally rotted, which led to its breaking off and falling down.

Who knows why, could be a metaphor for myself, but I am obsessed with photographing broken trees. Hmmm.

The headstones that have broken over the years and that have been misplaced are affixed to the brick wall in the cemetary. It makes for an interesting scene. Their headstones are broken and lost, but hopefully their lives weren't.
I just realized I took this photo on the same day he died, just 163 years later. That's kinda spooky!
