Taken on Mallorca, 2014.

Fall Creek flows off the south flanks of the 9,175 foot extinct, glacially eroded stratovolcano appropriately named Broken Top. Fall Creek meanders out onto the flat grass land marshes and Sparks Lake.

Thanks Chris for the invite to join you on this day. It was a FUN day!

I have been wanting to try my BW 1000x filter for quite some time (actually 3 weeks!) and I got the right opportunity (and a great company/) to completely test it out. Past weekend, I went with Amar to a fishing locale called Thalankuppam near Ennore, Chennai.

I have seen a picture of this bridge in a couple of tamil movies and have been meaning to go there to shoot ever since. So we googled extensively to find out the exact location, how safe is it to go there (we were initially planning to go there for sunrise photography - blame it on our stupid sleep schedule, we ended up going at 3pm!!). For anyone looking to photograph this place, this place is absolutely safe and not as remote as I thought it would be. When we went, there were quite a few people. A factory and a village are not too far either. With relentless waves and a dilapidated structure, one might get thousand different composition ideas and it's definitely a 'must visit' for any photographer living in Chennai!

Technical info: I shot this at an ISO of 200 and with an exposure of 20 seconds (thanks to the filter, I was able to expose for that long during bright day light to make the waves look foggy).

This, my friends, was the whole reason for our road trip. Not to take a blown polaroid of Broken Top, mind you, but to see if Oregon is a good place to call home...

We'd heard Bend was promised land for people that love mountain biking and dry winters, but when we first arrived in town, the view from the interstate wasn't promising. Eighty thousand residents makes for quite a consumer sprawl (hello, Wal-Mart!) and Bend is no tiny Crested Butte nestled up in the mountains.

But after we'd found a room and tucked in supper at 10 Barrel, we felt a little more optimistic. The sun hadn't set, so we headed out of town towards the mountains. Only twenty minutes later we were standing in the middle of a snowy wilderness watching the sunset color Broken Top & Mt. Bachelor.

I was sold. In that moment, I didn't want to even go back to Ohio to pack up. We're planning on moving west in the spring, so if you want to rent a house in Miami Valley, Ohio on two acres of land sprouting with mature oak trees, give a holler!

Come, let us have some tea and continue to talk about happy things. Chaim Potok

I broke my favorite cup today. The handle was already missing and after a tumble off the counter today, there are several more pieces missing. It was a gift from someone I love, and even in it's brokenness, it is still a treasure to me. No longer useable in it's original form, but still lovely in another purpose.

Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

Two broken street lamps were enough to let the full moon do it's work on these beach huts. Another Brighton cliché with a slight twist.

Broken shells fascinate me. Their intricate designs, their "bones," they way they capture and reflect light. They are what I look for on our beach trips. We don't have many "souvenirs" of our trips other than rocks and shells and photos. I love the interior glow to these tiny shells on a light box.

Hole in one of our local roads, meaning, many houses previously in a through road, now have a cul de sac for quite some time.

This happened after the torrential rain we had for the last week, pushing water from one lake into another, collapsing the road in between. It doesn't say much for the road construction, just a thin layer of tarmac, and no support underneath.

We just went to have a look, thinking that there was flooding and water across the road.

Amazing...

She's so beautifully broken

Shaped by the wind

Dangerously twisted

Here I go again

I see the way she cast her spell

It's like drowning in moonlight

I watch her move from star to star

And I wonder why, why it feels so right

She's so beautifully broken

You can barely see the flaw

Especially from a distance

Which is always how I fall

Why do I fall for the dangerous ones?

The ones that never learned to let go

And why do I lie to myself

And pretend that I can break her

When she's already been so

Beautifully broken

This is the classic broken-wing distraction display that Killdeer plovers use to draw attention away from their nests when disturbed. It catches the eye of the intruder, and when the bird is pursued, it gets up, runs in a direction opposite the nest, only to squat and re-display its broken wing distraction. Eventually the potential threat is far enough away from the nest and eggs, and the bird flies away and circles back to the nest area.

I just thought it would be cool to have a disillusioned robot sitting on the floor eating ice cream over a broken heart! Oh yeah 2 of those cats are mine... :)

Broken Glass. Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

Thought I'd venture out into our 'winter wonderland'... We didn't actually get snow but it did freeze a little bit. There was a layer of ice on top of the recycle bin (it collects water whenever it rains). When I lifted it, the water sloshed, scared me, I dropped the lid and the ice broke into pieces...

Our Daily Challenge: pieces

One of the last attempts to build paths through Parfrey's Glen. Mother nature has other ideas. This path looked like it was pretty old, but quite broken due to the dynamic nature of the landscape here and the continual floods. They gave up in the end thankfully. A path through here would ruin the place.

Take these broken wings, and learn to fly again learn to live so free.

Red Kite (Milvus milvus) with a few tatty feathers.

This magnificently graceful bird of prey is unmistakable with its reddish-brown body, angled wings and deeply forked tail.

Such joy to see these wild birds in flight.

Normally my pictures aren't happy but this one is dripping with grief and heartbreak. My dog has been missing for a week and a half now and I'm terrified we won't ever know what happened to her. I feel like part of me is missing and I grieve for her brother who is visibly upset at her absence. I also created this image in the midst of the 2020 Presidential election and I wanted to convey the brokenness of the country.
