In Murray City or Logan Ohio, there was brick factory and apparently the natives used the materials that were locally available. I love the over sized glazed blocks. I took some home from a junk pile and used them in the garden. look at the pipes in the brick work. i have never seen this before.

These bricks were shipped from Baltimore to provide walkways for pedestrians.

The house was built by Asa Tift, a marine architect (and Confederate mariner), in 1851. In 1931 Hemingway purchased it and lived here with his second wife, Pauline, and their two sons until 1939.

Here, Hemingway completed the final draft of "A Farewell to Arms," as well as "The Snows of Kilimanjaro" and "The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber".

This was probably a classroom once, but tar has run down the once-beautiful brick walls from the ruins above. Lincoln School, Metropolis ghost town, Nevada.

TWIN BRICKS

Twin-Bricks, consists of two wings - A five unit rental dwelling and the owner’s own two-family house. It is located in a quiet residential area, just 20 minutes by train from Tokyo. In order to secure some space for the owner’s car collection, the owner’s wing (RC Wing) stands closer to the road than the rental wing (S Wing). The rental wing is clad in both autoclaved lightweight concrete (ALC) panels as well as glass blocks.

S WING

The S Wing, based on the previously completed “Crystal Brick” House, introduces ALC panels as aseismatic elements in order to improve cost-effectiveness in the face of earthquake safety. The arrangement of glass block and ALC panel was derived from a series of experiments. The results showed that the ALC panel fail leaving the glass blocks intact, providing enhanced safety for the occupants. An intriguing spatial composition materializes due to the seemingly random composition of the glass block and ALC Panels which hide all structure.

RC WING

With the purpose of alleviating noise from the garage and providing a sense of privacy for the owners, Atelier Tekuto Co., Ltd. created the “RC structure + exterior thermal insulation” construction method. Costs were significantly reduced by introducing high-pressure wood wool cement boards and integrating the boards as form works. Original tiles were also developed after careful consideration.

The overall experience of Twin Bricks is heightened by the juxtaposition of the heavy RC wing and light S wing and between the transparency of glass versus the opacity of the ALC panels. Though these materials seem to be in antithesis, they exhibit a material harmony when partnered together.

This is travel photo from Zhongdian (Shangrila), China.

Inside, I have:

1743 Medium Blue 1x4 Bricks

1617 Lime 1x4 Bricks

42 Black 1x4 Bricks

21 Clear 1x2 Bricks

And enuff space in front, for the flap to slide in, which isn't wide enuff for another row of bricks anyway.

And if I forced any bricks in there, I would not be able to close the lid.

It can fit a block built 26 x 25 x 21 bricks high.

Still ill. Haven't left the house in ages. Not cool.

All kinds of broken brick and mortar had to be removed from my building (it leaked each and every time it rained), and replaced.

What this sounded like from the inside:

Well ten seconds worth. Imagine it for 9 hours today…

We built a walkway on the side of our house.

These bricks were in place and we didn't want to waste the extra concrete when we finished for the day. They are filler so we didn't need to use as much concrete.

Fuel bricks, nice and dry and waiting for the fire. Finally, a use for old issues of the West Highland Free Press, Heat magazine, and election literature.

Always wish you had a brick wall inside your home? Well this painting is just for you!! Created to literally appear to be a brick wall. The texture was created with a fiber paste (smooth, paper-like appearance) combined with a course molding paste to give the impression of an actual brick and mortar wall! Textured to the touch and colors blended just right – and you have yourself an instant accent wall (or at least a really unique, one of a kind painting)!
