Although I don't like to see bricks defaced in this manner, this location is quite photogenic because of it.
A few of us were discussing this location at Camera Club last Monday evening, so thought I'd have a re-look at some of my photos taken last summer.

A rather common sight in less developed areas of Tennessee, to keep them from being run down or shot up. The square hole below the mailbox is meant to receive a newspaper box. I imagine the rectangular receptacles at the base are meant to be planters, not a usual feature.

Working in the city means your never parked close to work. I was running quickly in the rain to my car from the bakery when I noticed how pretty it all really way. Pulled my phone out and try to shield it from the windy gust of rain, and took this shot. I'm not sure others will see what I did in that moment. I just think the streets are so pretty with the bricks and cobble stones, and they were simply getting a nice bath today. I posted a lot of this past weekend event to my page,

Must have been a beautiful house in its prime - before someone painted the yellow accent brick white.

This is a photograph showing detail in the texture of bricks/brick walls. Taken at approximately midday in January winter sunlight. This gives the material(s) a much more yellowish tone than in light at different times of the day or year, and also creates quite strong shadows on the opposite direction of light (left). Also, note that the texture of the brick and mortar themselves is very rough, with a high level of relief, in terms of cracks, which would be important when considering realistic bump maps.
