This heron was about to have a big breakfast when I came up on him.

They are EVERYWHERE in Brazos Bend State Park.

It was fun to see her navigate the succulents, alternately testing out footholds and running along the leaves, stumbling a bit as she went.

Beckie could not restrain herself.

This common moorhen was one of many that we found wading in the sloughs and along the edge of the lakes. They are unique and colorful birds.

I'm from Maine, where a Lobster that size would almost be legal.

Cropped center section of this photo. Although clearly not perfect, it shows that hand held shots can be made at this resolution. BUT, a tripod would have been better without doubt.

I wasn't going to post this because the Egret in the background isn't in good focus. But the shadow of the head on the wing of the Egret in the foreground was too much to pass up.
