On Monday, Carl and I ate lunch in Lake Jackson at All-Star Pizza. We had the delicious buffet of pizza, calzones, and cookies. Afterwards we drove to Brazos Bend State Park where we saw some wildlife exhibits and saw some wildlife: butterflies, a deer, a snake, baby alligators, some birds, and a baby coyote?
Then we drove to the museum district of Houston. At the Houston Museum of Natural Science, we toured two exhibits: Terra Cotta Warriors and the Spirits & Headhunters: Vanishing Worlds of the Amazon. We also saw the skeletons of some dinosaurs and exhibits of animals from Africa.
We had planned to go to the Houston Zoo since it was open free to the public on Columbus Day, but they wouldn't let us inside since it was less than an hour before closing time. Instead we found Hermann Park with a pond, some ducks, some coy, a turtle, and some statues. It was a nice find at the end of the day.
We drove back to Lake Jackson and ate a most delicious steak at Salt Grass Steak House before returning to Carl's house for me to pack up and leave early the next morning.
Brazos Bend State Park I realize these shots aren't very sharp. It was overcast and getting dark, but I haven't seen many of these up close so here they are anyway. I walked a few miles over a few hours only to find this bird in the parking lot when it was time to go home.

This image was made during the golden hour from the observation deck at Brazos Bend State Park, in Texas. A time of day when thousands upon thousands of birds go to roost.
This is a scene from one of the ox bow lakes created by a change in the channel of the Brazos River within the Brazos Bend State Park.

A shot from Brazos Bend. I like this one not only for how well hidden the gator is with his hairpiece, but also how the light caught the details in hs eye as we watched one another.

I print on this side of the can as a statement about the current condition of our waterways because of the pollution by the very people who proclaim to be there to enjoy the "Pristine Outdoors".
The photograph was taken on August 20th, 2016 at Brazos Bend State Park, just outside of Houston, Texas, USA.
The can is a Coca-Cola Zero that I collected from the side of FM2100 in Huffman, Texas, USA, on March 24th, 2018.
I printed on the inside of the can after using 200 grit sandpaper to remove the top coating. Doing this by hand made for uneven sanding as well as visible scratches in random directions. This was done purposely because I like how it adds texture to the photograph, especially with B&W images.
Prior to printing I applied two coats of the Clear Matte Precoat by inkAID. This is what allows me to print on the metal, otherwise the ink would just run off.
