In recent years, there have been an increasing number of scientific investigations into art, exploring what actually happens in the brain during the creative process. Most of these collaborations have been based in neuroscience and psychological approaches to how art is perceived, produced and created, with music the main focus of studies carried out to date. These studies have yielded important new information that relates to a very basic fact of human biology: all behavior, even that as complex as creativity, can be linked to brain function. Building on this fundamental linkage, the neurobiology of art promises to yield exciting new insights as this research field evolves. Creative behavioral patterns are likely to be a critical component for developing the neurological capacity for innovation.

This Salzburg Global program represents a pioneering step to establish a neutral international forum to discuss state-of-the-art findings from a cross-disciplinary perspective, prioritize future research, and expand creative opportunities for learning, innovation and collaboration. While much research is taking place in various national and regional settings, more global dialogue is needed between specialist silos in order to catalyze knowledge exchange around the results, implications and potential practical applications of new cutting-edge research.

Why We Need Sleep

If you have ever felt foggy after a poor night’s sleep, it won’t surprise you that sleep significantly impacts brain function. First, a healthy amount of sleep is vital for “brain plasticity,” or the brain’s ability to adapt to input. If we sleep too little, we become unable to process what we’ve learned during the day and we have more trouble remembering it in the future. Researchers also believe that sleep may promote the removal of waste products from brain cells—something that seems to occur less efficiently when the brain is awake.Tips for Better Sleep

Good sleep habits (sometimes referred to as “sleep hygiene”) can help you get a good night’s sleep.

Some habits that can improve your sleep health:

-Be consistent. Go to bed at the same time each night and get up at the same time each morning, including on the weekends

-Make sure your bedroom is quiet, dark, relaxing, and at a comfortable temperature

-Remove electronic devices, such as TVs, computers, and smart phones, from the bedroom

-Avoid large meals, caffeine, and alcohol before bedtime

-Get some exercise. Being physically active during the day can help you fall asleep more easily at night.

Sleep is vital to the rest of the body too. When people don’t get enough sleep, their health risks rise. Symptoms of depression, seizures, high blood pressure and migraines worsen. Immunity is compromised, increasing the likelihood of illness and infection. Sleep also plays a role in metabolism: Even one night of missed sleep can create a prediabetic state in an otherwise healthy person.

The human brain consumes roughly 20% of the sugars we consume, despite being roughly the size of your fist. Thus, energy metabolism constrains the development and functional capacity of the brain. In addition, defects in metabolism are found in many brain disorders. The study for which this image was made utilized computational models of human brain metabolism to better understand metabolic defects in Alzheimer’s disease. This study demonstrated that metabolism was significantly impaired in even seemingly healthy cells in brain regions that are more susceptible to damage in Alzheimer’s disease.

Moreover, this study was able to identify a gene which may explain why some cells die in Alzheimer’s disease why others do not. Thus, brain metabolism shapes and places limits on human brain function in health and disease.

“It took many years to fine tune my creations & understand myself. The way I see it, Art is an absolute reflection of the self. True art is made through silence, Therefore one must be silent as one creates. When I say silent, I mean thoughtless. To have no thought enables your brain to fully focus on the moment one hundred percent. Art is love. Love is awareness. Therefore true art which resonates love can only be crafted through total awareness. In total awareness, nothing can be more. You are only confined by your knowledge. The more alone & more silent you become, the more knowledge flows into you. This journey of life is so beautiful if you want it to be. Use your brain function to develop beautiful mind gardens. Check for weeds & tend to your dreams by watering them and watching them grow. Utilize your experiences by fully submerging yourself within them, storing information like a database in the mind, ready for any given moment to deploy it. When I create, I see certain things manifest through the energy. Fragments of information I’ve stored within my brain - Fragments of infinity, things that will always be a part of me. There is an inner language to understand that allows you to communicate with no boundaries of time or space. Anything is possible. Literally. I got the Pharaohs on speed dial."⠀ जSड़ोंIभूLमि3गNतCमैं3 by Tony Katai (2/4)

protein water weight loss-In order to perform optimally, you need to treat your body as it deserves. Currently, the nation is grappling with the overwhelming number of obesity cases and increased lifestyle diseases. All these cases are avoidable; all that is required is to observe proper living standards. This includes sticking with the right diet program, exercising frequently, and feeding your mind and sole with the right content. The question as to what constitutes the right diet may not be standard, however, the need to increase protein intake for our energy source. It is not surprising that protein water commonly referred to as shakes are becoming very popular.

The shakes are particularly recommended for the frequent gym goers, athletes and all other people who engage in physically draining activities like exercises. This is due to the fact that the shakes are a good source of energy. A single serving of pure protein contains up to 100 calories. As such, an adult needs 2-3 servings per day. Since the nutritionists recommend that 25% of your energy should come from proteins, this offers a very good solution to the nutritional requirements.

Unknown to many, a high protein diet significantly improves the brain cognition. The rise in the levels of the amino acid tyrosine leads to a healthier brain function and better mental performance. This leaves one feeling more energetic and very alert. This is explained by the fact the tyrosine acid accelerates the creation of dopamine and norepinephrine. These are the neurotransmitters that are responsible for activity, alertness, and energy.

However, for those who intend to cut weight and manage obesity, this protein water weight loss offers even a better solution. It is very easy to manage the hunger pangs that you normally experience right after meals. Through different research findings, it has been found that a protein full diet helps you get the feeling of being full much faster and continue feeling so for a longer time.

In addition to this, it offers the best alternative as the source of long lasting energy. This means that it provides energy that can last you the whole day. Generally, it is a requirement that at least one quarter of your total energy source per day should come from protein source. The energy from amino acids is retrieved through a consistent and slow conversion process. This assures a more consistent supply of energy to the body throughout the day.

Whether it is the sore or just a damaged tissue, the body needs the protein to undertake the repairing process. It is said to the closest thing to make you look youthful. As a macronutrient, the body relies on it as a building block for tissues, tissue repair and tissue maintenance.

For those who are after the lean muscle growth, this is the perfect solution. Normally, the body starts dissolving muscles for energy provision when there is no protein in the diet. In order to develop muscles, you need a continuous intake of amino-acids.

This is also the building blocks for tissue development. It also plays the main duty of tissue repair and tissue maintenance. Proper tissue repair means a youthful look even in your old age. This is even more important given that the body does not store amino acids like it does to access carbohydrates and fats.

As we learn more about brain function, it's becoming increasingly clear that the 'social brain' is going to drive the emerging collaborative marketplace. The social brain refers to our grey matter's ability to perceive empathy in another person, ie: does this person really understand and care, or are they just pretending?

Daniel J. Siegel, in his book Mindsight calls this 'Feeling Felt'.

This is my first roll of black in white film in 6 or 7 years. I'm definitely rusty both on visualizing things in b&w and working in grayscale in Photoshop.

This is me reflecting light back onto the snow under the shade line. I have to fight visualizing it in color because I just love shooting color so much. Despite that I'm still excited about this picture and fucking around with 35mm in general.

I've been in the mood for some experimenting and I'm challenging myself to drop my notions of the kind of images I should be making... and just have fun. It's hard not to put pressure on myself thinking I need to make a body of work because I want to keep moving forward in my fine art image-making "career". One of the things I've learned living in Santa Fe is that my environment is a huge part of the way I work; this is SO apparent to me now, looking back at previous projects. My unhappiness in my current situation has caused a lot of frustration in my creative process. I hope that wherever I live next is more conducive to my right brain functions.

We arrived on the island after 10:00PM the previous night. It was hot & humid, a feature that did not change during our brief stay. After picking up our baggage Nancy managed to find a local that was meeting a friend at the airport and who agreed to drive us out to our hotel. Lucky find!

After not sleeping very well we were up and more or less awake, meaning our eyes were open. Brain function was another story. At any rate, I found my way out to the back patio for a look around. Not bad.

We'll see that ship again later today anchored in a different location.

This is the view as you move forward into the projection of the brain (virtually) using a joystick. Various colored shapes moving about within the image of the brain show simulations of particular brain functions. The lab can be used for visualizations in any field. I believe the faculty member who created it is in the music department.

From the session: "The Neuroscience of Art:

What are the Sources of Creativity and Innovation?" (February 21 to 26, 2015)

---

It’s an effort to encourage educators to embrace fitness as a way to improve brain function and overall health and to provide a good example for Utah’s youth.

How many fruits and vegetables have you consumed today? Chances are—not enough. Very few of us manage to eat the government-recommended amounts. Imagine a way to get the equivalent of 5 servings a day—in one tiny pill. That's what Vegiberries has to offer—the ORAC value of more than five servings of fruits and vegetables in one capsule. Make Vegiberries your daily insurance policy.
