"THE SALON 2013" is a woven grass installation by Studio Kabuya (Adria Garcia and Sarah Kavage) created in the meadow adjacent to the North viewing tower at the Green River Natural Resources Area (GRNRA), 21250 Russell Road South, Kent, WA.
The winding twists of braided grass comprise a living sculpture which will continue to grow until it is overtaken by the landscape from which it sprouted. Woven from August 11-18, 2013 it should be visible well into 2014.
FREE all ages events will mark the opening and dedication of the installation. More at studiokabuya.com/gallery-of-projects/the-salon/events-at-...

i worked with 6 braids, and in the end decided i was much more of a 3 braid girl. it's like throwback to braiding my own hair.
I hope this counts :O
This is my hand, holding my sister's braid, that I made, with my hands!
Hopefully this doesn't break any rules..
Probems: First I make my bezels too tight but this was the first time a stone got stuck in the bezel before it was soldered to the frame. I decided to drill holes in the bezel so I could push the stone out. Finally my husband was able to push the stone out. Now I had like 5 ugly holes drilled in the bottom of the bezel. This lead me to saw out an oval shape to remove the damage. The opening made it very hard to solder the bezel to the frame. Could be another reason the bezel is crooked. Learning experience.
she actually sat long enough for me to braid her hair. i tried to do it from the top but her hair is too smooth and silky.
I got some aluminum wire that's VERY soft (any metal tools mark it, pretty much) and I wasn't sure if it would work for this braided wire technique. It cooperates more, though, and the finished product is bendable enough to adjust to fit any wrist. I've done these in several different colors.
