She's picky even with her hairstyle. I originally looped this braids and she did not like it...this is how she wanted them instead. Another SOOC.
Shangilia Mtoto Wa Africa - Rejoice Child of Africa
This past weekend I had the pleasure of visiting Shangilia and meeting some of the children who live there. Located just outside of Nairobi in the sprawling Kangemi slum, Shangilia was founded in 1994 by the late Kenyan actress Anne Wanjugu as an organization dedicated to educating and empowering street children, that they might become part of a community and as a result have a chance at a better life.
The central message of Shangilia remains that street children who have been empowered can excel and contribute meaningfully to society.

This week's theme was Stranded. One of the defintions for Strand was :
"one of a number of fibers, threads, or yarns that are plaited or twisted together to form a rope, cord, or the like"
So I just braided one strand of hair.
I (kind of) broke my kit lens and I could only manual focus...but I am starting to feel more like a photographer though :)
Now that I look at this photo I realize I am in such an awkward pose....

Found washed up on the shore of Tin Can Beach, Saint John, NB. Somebody took the time to twist this rope into an intricate loop.
I must agree it is long, but I must keep it for continuity. I'll be glad to be rid of it in September!

Here's my hair I'm donating to Locks of Love. I actually think it's about 18 inches, the braiding makes it shorter I believe. Oh well, even if it's really 16, that's still A LOT of hair!
weekend finally!! All this working malarky is taking its toll on me, so today im home alone and decided to take some photographs. (i did have a idea for something super cool but it didnt work..)
I need to change my hair, it just make me look weird. i miss my long hair!

Giant Leap
Young people involved with the NHSCT's employability scheme celebrated their achievements in the Braid Centre, Ballymena last week.
Young people and staff from across Include Youth's Give & Take Scheme, Action for Children and trust worked together to put on an evening everyone could enjoy.
A massive thank you to Ballymena Borough Council for their support.

Hair:
I started with sectioning of the top part of the hair and pined it up. I then parted the hair in two French braided the hair front to back and all the way through the ends, I wrapped the braids around the head and pined them to secure. I took down a section from the loos hair on the top of the head and made a fishtail braid that I wrapped to the front of the hair and pined to secure.
I then took all the rest of the hair down and curled it. After that I made four different sections and rolled them back into a curl to pin it down onto the head to secure. I finished it of with some hairspray.
