A large one-and-a-half-storey front-gabled frame structure with a flat-roofed side wing. A large Gothic arched window is flanked by two large rectangular windows at the second level of the front elevation. The door and bay window on the west side appear to be old.
Located at the comer of the Cedar Springs Road and Kilbride Street. A well known landmark. The undergorund creek that used to provide cool basement storage for the store may be linked to the spring at the rear of the property, which is still used as a public source.
In 1855, Francis Baker sold an undivided half of Lot 20 to William Panton. He mortgaged it in 1856 for £300 to the West Permanent Building Society, which sold it in 1865 to Thomas Whyte, when it became known as T. L. Whyte's Department Store. According to Wimifred Harbottle, Kilbride's Heritage (1985), pp. 15-16, T. L. Whyte "employed a large staff and had at least five clerks in the grocery department. Heaps of barrels held supplies lie sugar. salt, molasses, syrups, oils, -The meat shop was always filled with choice meats which T.L. Whyte bought direct from the farmer and resold in small or large quantities to the consumer. The original store was burned but was immediately rebuilt.
The millinery department was at the back of the store, now the living quarters of the present owners. It required many clerks, and the tailoring department upstairs employed five men and eight ladies. There was a boot and shoe department, and the dry goods department was well stocked with yard goods, silks, velvets, woollens, yams, laces, braids and trimmings of all description.
T.L. Whyte was a good tradesman and it was not necessary to go to the city to either buy or sell produce.
One of the employees named McNabb was the buyer and went to Scotland twice a year to purchase all kinds of materials that were sold in this department store.
The T. L. Whyte store still stands on the corner and serves as a general store and post office, and also a home for the present owner, Lloyd Cootes.
There are many weddings that pop up here and there. I arrived at this one around sunset. This girl had some amazing braids... wow gals take a lot of effort to make all this stuff happen. I feel so lazy. I can barely get dressed in the morning with whatever happens to be around me.
today i tried to do the inverted or "dutch" braid. i like it. of course my hair isn't long enough to braid all the way to the back, so the center back looks really crappy. ah, well. the front and sides look okay!
p.s. larissa, i'm wearing the dress you gave me! i love it!! :)
From above, the braided river carves intricate paths through black volcanic sands, painting a surreal mosaic in the Icelandic wilderness.
Dall’alto, il fiume intrecciato incide percorsi intricati nelle sabbie vulcaniche nere, creando un mosaico surreale nella natura islandese.

Blythe a Day - Hair Style You love the most - 2/22/22
Here is Winterish Allure in her royal roles. Love her hair braided and pinned back.
My recycled photos here. I did a new photo for this prompt, but Winterish's hair looks better in this style that Joana Gentiana who I photographed. I think it is because the braids are longer so they show more from the front.
