The headlamp bracket bolt hole is about half an inch away from the bolt and so far I have not been able to lever it into position...
This Bracket Fungus is growing on a fallen tree in a park in Northampton. It looks almost like a pile of pancakes, or drop-scones, and I thought it would be fairly easy to identify exactly what type of fungus it is. But after looking through hundreds and hundreds of photos of Bracket Fungus on Google and Flickr I am none the wiser! I didn't realise there were so many totally different (in appearance) types of Bracket Fungus!
This shot shows a portion of the distinctive and beautiful cover, designed by talented artist and University of West England graduate Gaby Selby, for the recently published Bristol Short Story Prize Anthology Vol. 3 (Bristol Review of Books).
For those that don't know, the Bristol Short Story Prize is a yearly run literary award, founded by the editors of the Bristol Review of Books. The aim of the prize is simple - 'to publish great short stories and promote the stories and writers as much as possible'.
And these guys are certainly true to their word. Contained within this latest anthology along with this year's winning story by Valerie O'Riordan (Mum's the Word), the 2nd place story from Ian Madden (Only The Sure of Foot), and the story that finished 3rd - Gardening by Rachel Howard, are another 17 short stories all of which were entered for this year's prize, and all of which were chosen for inclusion in this anthology because of their outstanding quality.
Now I'm going to level with you here folks, and tell you that although you've not heard me talking about this short story anthology on RobAroundBooks so far, I have 'unofficially' started reading it. Up to now I've read the stories that finished in the top three places and I've got to tell you I'm mightily impressed; both with the quality of the storytelling, and the accuracy of the judging.
It's difficult to say without reading all of the inclusions whether the judges have got it totally right. But I can say out of the three stories I've read so far, the judges have got the winning order absolutely bang on. That's a good sign I think that these judges know their 'stuff' and that the rest of the stories in this anthology are going to be of superior quality. I certainly hope so.
Look out for me officially launching my read through of this anthology in the next few days (let's get this Simon Van Booy and Kevin Barry event out of the way first :)), and in the meantime if you're interested in finding out more about the Bristol Short Story Prize and the busy beavers who are behind it, then head on over to the BSSP website and/or look them up on Twitter (tell them Rob sent ya :)).
Incidentally, one of the judges for the Bristol Short Story Prize is none other than Tania Hershman, author of The White Road and Other Stories (Salt Publishing), and the genius mastermind behind The Short Review. I'm going to be reading through her collection in the next few days too. So keep your peepers peeled for that one.

The lamp bracket came from the Meadows Lamp gallery, who consider it to be from 1848.

The embossed pattern in the background is a sample piece of a Lincrusta design known as Cleopatra RD1962.

As can be seen there's quite a good match between the both the shapes and sizes of the Lincrusta wallpaper & the silver plated wrought brass scrolls and whorls of the lamp bracket. Is this just a coincidence, or are both derived from a common source, or perhaps even was the bracket designed to fit the Lincrusta "Cleopatra" design?

I received my RadioPopper PX brackets for my SBs last night. My first impression is very good. They have an excellent build quality. This doesn’t appear to be cheap plastic - it’s actually pretty thick plastic. They’re heavier than the bracket that came with my SBs from Nikon. As with anything there are pros and cons: So here’s my full review of the brackets on my blog lightandpixels.com.

One of the final generations of very high quality bottom brackets made for square tapered cranks. This was one which fitted entirely within a BB shell of a frame... and, unlike Shimano or Campagnolo - which each had flanged cups on the drive side, it could be shifted slightly to right or left to fine tune the chain line.

The big reveal: here's the new supply spool rack now permanently attached to the electronics chassis. With the lazy susan bearing beneath it all it's a simple matter to rotate the whole thing 180 degrees to wrap Kapton film around individual rows of magnet wire.
In the process of overhauling Cam's old mountain bike (a early/mid-90s Marin) I pulled the bottom bracket out and discovered this corrosion. The bottom bracket had welded itself to the shell; I had to soak the shell in WD40 and then take a dremel sanding drum to it. I have to take the frame into a bike shop and get the bottom bracket threads chased with a tap, because there's so much corrosion still there that I can't get the new one in.
Decided to make a quick bracket to hold two flashes on one light stand. This way I can run two flashes on 1 stand, through 1 umbrella. This will also allow me to shoot two flashes at 1/2 power instead of 1 flash at full power and use less battery power AS WELL AS faster recycle time.
I should paint it black, but let's face it, it's a $1.79 bracket from the hardware store, the paint would cost more, haha.
This will have to due until I can afford Ab800's.
