2013 update -- A newly remodeled and reopened Harper Theater is now operating here. Unfortunately, this lovely deco element was either removed or buried beneath.

The Cooler Box I found on Luce Bayou balanced on my Ascend H12 Kayak.
The box was left behind when the flood waters from Hurricane Harvey receded.
Triangular tato box, from a circle of florentine paper (last bit of this paper, unfortunately)
This one has curved folds, but not the same place Oschene put his, thus petals curl downward.
Sorry for those expecting the 18-gon tato box, I took the challenge the other way around...
Spent a little time here and there the last two days. Put ALOT of detail into this.
Wood burning is tough work! Also used watered down acrylics and a glaze varnish.
Likely will sell this at an art's festival coming up.

FIELD MARK-The box turtle or box tortoise is a genus of turtle native to North America (United States and Mexico). The 12 taxa which are distinguished in the genus are distributed over four species. It is largely characterized by having a domed shell, which is hinged at the bottom, allowing the animal to close its shell tightly to escape predators.

The VR inscription on this post box denotes that it was manufactured during the reign of Queen Victoria (1837 - 1901).
There is a small metal plaque at the top stating that it was installed at nearby Sarratt Vale in 1907 before being relocated here.
So it may have been somewhere else first, but quite likely that it was held by the GPO for a few years before being installed.

Shot on a Lomo LC-A+ and Lomo 200 slide film, cross-processed.
I know he's out of focus. But the expression wins through.

I always find this box intriguing. The first handful of times I visited the Olympic Sculpture park i didn't even notice it. Its not very large and sits ambiguously next to a concrete bench. I wonder what is inside?
Petersfield Signal Box. This box once controlled the junction of the line to Midhurst as well as a platform loop and part of the goods yard. Today it is just a crossing box, but still in Southern colours
Thank you for the photo, Abbie! Your cupcakes look adorable in the 'lula dozen cupcake box'.

Found box turtle shell plate. This is the thin transparent outer material, not the bone of the shell itself.
All these lovely things were sent to me from my swap partner on swap-bot for the Altered department store jewellery box, the box has been altered in such a lovely way , I'm going to keep it in my bedroom
haha everyone always asks me to post my box openings. I usually forget to do box openings... but here's one...sort of. haha xD
A few more shots from the "Cat-in-a-box" session :0) I'm away until Friday with work and only have my iPhone, so I'll catch up with everyone when I get back.
This box was a gift from my Grandma Jeanne to my Grandfather Daniel in December of 1924, when they'd been married a few years. It's always been on my mother's desk, and in Cairo, she had it fitted with a wrought iron frame. When we moved here to Brooklyn, she gave it to us and now it's got all our wedding memories in it.
It is, needless to say, very precious to me. I never met my grandfather but I remember Grandma Jeanne well - and the spidery, neat handwriting dedicating the box on the inside reminds me of her.
Personal study for my concept class. How can i make an object interesting by creating an inspiring environment. What's in the box? What is these people's connection to the box? What's the band between these people. Use your imagination and let your feelings create your own proper story...
Just thought you might like to see, she had an AMAZING amount of Bubble wrap so this is just totally on the USPS :( It actually looks like a FOOT Stepped on the side of her box. When I got her out her Faceplate had popped a bit at the seam but thankfully nothing was broken
The end of the box was completely smooshed, I should have taken a before I opened it shot but i Was so panicked I just ripped right in.
I'm lucky the damage wasnt worse I think :)
