The once busy Tondu signal box is a GWR box dating back to 1894, it is a GW3 design and had 63 recorded levers in 1963.

It now mainly controls passenger services to and from Bridgend to Maesteg but occasionally freight diversions are diverted via Tondu from Margam along the Ogmore Vale line to the Garw loop when engineering work takes place on the South Wales main line.

The box still controls 17 semaphore signals most of which are on the Ogmore and Garw valley line and are rarely used.

Today the signal man will use some of those rarely used levers as he speaks to the crew of DB Cargo class 66 locomotive 66150, as we head towards the Garw loop on the Garw Valley line and we will go way past this loop, until the vegetation stopped us! only to return past the box to access the Ogmore Vale line to Margam.

If you used Lucky Charms coupons in the 70's, you probably got a box of cereal that looked like this!

Whitwood signal box by the Down Main line at Castleford controlling the junction for the Methley branch to Methley Junction. Saturday 18th April 1987

Whitwood Junction signal box opened on 27th August 1890 fitted with a 26 lever McKenzie & Holland, replacing an earlier signal box. It was extended from 22' to 28' to accommodate a 50 lever McKenzie & Holland Number 16 frame commissioned on 1st February 1906, the signal box possibly being altered from a North Eastern Railway type S1a design to a type S1b design at the same time. The Junction suffix was dropped at some time and the signal box closed on 13th September 1997, along with Castleford Gates and Castleford Station signal boxes and was replaced by signalling controlled from Castleford signal box commissioned on 15th September 1997

Stalybridge 'box was destroyed in an accidental fire in the early hours of December 1st 2012, ironically whilst it was being dismantled ready for demolition. It had been decommissioned a few weeks beforehand with control passing to Manchester East SCC, but the event still caused massive disruption to the key Trans-Pennine route. I nipped over in the evening to view the damage and was a bit taken aback when I saw this, although I couldn't get any closer than the platform end. An inauspicious end to a railway feature that was well over 100 years old.

1st December 2012.

opened (I still need to figure out what to do to the inside of the box.

This box lid was inspired by some Pysanka egg designs and i wanted to capture the feel of them in glass. Its not the largest box I have ever done, but it was one of the most difficult and intricate. The tree in the diamond in the center is only 1.5 inches high. I am quite pleased with how it turned out.

Another cupcake gift box! Delivered within Canary Wharf.

Simple, with stars, but was pleased with the way the writing turned out this time.

The current Box Elder Stake Tabernacle, also known as the Brigham City Tabernacle, is a neo-Gothic tabernacle of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints rebuilt in Brigham City, Box Elder County, Utah by Mormon pioneers in 1897 after being gutted by fire a year earlier. The tabernacle continues to function as a meetinghouse for congregants of the Box Elder Stake and seats approximately 1600. It also host concerts and other special events and is open for tours during the summer. Given its unique architecture and importance to the community, the tabernacle was listed on National Register of Historic Places on May 14th, 1971. A recently built temple stands across from the tabernacle.

The site for the tabernacle was chosen by LDS Church President Brigham Young, who after visiting a different site selected by local church officers, went atop "Sagebrush hill" the highest point along main street and reportedly stated "this is the spot for your tabernacle." On May 8th 1865, Young assisted in laying the cornerstone for the tabernacle. Around 1880 meetings began to be held in a rudimentary structure without the tower, gallery, or buttresses. In 1889, it was voted to "complete" the building by adding a tower, a gallery, a rear vestibule, capped brick buttresses, and other improvements. The tabernacle was completed and dedicated on October 28, 1890 by Young's successor, Wilford Woodruff.

The tabernacle was gutted by fire in 1896, just 6 years after being completed in 1890. On Sunday February 9, 1896, as church members began to assemble a fire broke out in the furnace room, the building ignited and was reduced to blackened stone walls. Within a year the tabernacle was rebuilt with elegant woodwork, a distinctive gothic/revival tower and sixteen graceful pinnacles, and rededicated by George Q. Cannon on March 21, 1897.

My mooncake collection for this year. Yet to think of what to decorate them with but here's all their original look : )

EviiiR Edward the eighth post box, in Eden Way, Beckenham.

Quite rare, one of only around 130 in the country. Edward was only king for eleven months, and was never crowned. He abdicated to marry the woman of his choice.

March garden photos first batch.

Time to wake up for spring. Empty box was left out on the bench. He was interested for about 10 minutes.

Bristlecone Pine jewelry boxes

These rustic-appearing beautiful jewelry boxes (or desk organizers!) are made from Bristle Cone Pine that was burned over by a forest fire in the 1880's. Bristle Cone Pine grows high in the Rocky Mountains at 8000 feet and over, and is the oldest living thing in the world. These boxes are made from trees that are 200 to 1000 years old.

The boxes are hand made in the San Luis Valley of Southern Colorado, US, and finished with a fine Danish oil.

This box turtle (Terrapene carolina) is from Madison County, NC. The red eyes indicate that it is a male, and we estimated it to be over 30 years old based on counts of rings on the scutes.

This small cigarette box is by an unknown Italian maker. It is marked with raised block letters reading ITALY.

A letter box, tactile paving (the yellow bumps), wheel-friendly curbs, a striped cross-walk, a white picket fence, and even a pickup truck full of junk: this scene could be in any of hundreds of US suburbs.

Our Daily Challenge: ON or AROUND THE CORNER

The control box on this ESLA column on Beeston Fields Drive has sprung open. The securing method, which seems to have involved a cable tie, has evidently failed, leaving the internal components exposed to the full force of the downpour. What's more, the Thorn Beta 2 lantern on the top of this post is also missing its bowl, meaning this lamp is REALLY exposed to the elements!

Box Chevy Landau on 26s

This was a gift from a good friend.

I love it !

It's a Hello kitty music/jewelry box she dances/moves it's sooo cute ^_^

This little slide-top box is adorable, if I do say so myself! I did this in dark gold clay with thin black stripes on the bottom, and textured black for the slide top. Two "security guards" adorn the front corners, and a striped swirl decorates the back of the box. The legs lift this up to the perfect height to show off the "roaring turtle" that will scare off intruders and protect the contents inside the box.

I made this for the April 2014 PCAGOE challenge, the theme being "Containers". Please vote at pcagoe.com the first week of April.

A further box visit back in October 2015 was Ulceby Signal Box.

Ulceby had evolved to cover quite a significant area compared with its original area. It had a reduced frame and an IFS panel. There was also room for a panel to cover Brocklesby but this never happened.

Sadly the box was demolished with undue haste following closure, before the local S&T even had time to recover equipment for spares, the box coming down with everything still in place.

Sheringham east signal box during the 2007 steam dream gala. This image had two layers created to acheive the black and white background and coloured signalbox levers. In the background is Bulleid Unrebuilt Battle of Britain No. 34081 92 Squadron. [taken with my old kodak camera]

Trees on Box Hill, a famous beauty spot on the North Downs in Surrey, which last summer was the scene for the Olympic Cycling Road Race.

The view from Box Hill across the Surrey countryside is stunning, but on a sunny winter's afternoon, the view behind, with a setting sun, is one of golden light and wonderful colour, particularly with a dark sky background.

I've never seen this one before. It's don-don lunch box for donburi, and also perfect for noodle/pasta. It comes with spoon. I can't decide between traditional sakura pattern (available in red and dark brown), or metalic color (orange, light blue, and white). I bought both of them. I can always give this to my niece/sister later when I go home for Christmas :D

This pack of cigarettes can be rezzed or you can "wear" it.

Visiting Blackpool from Beamish Museum for the tram 125 events, Marton Box 31 is seen here shortly after 2300 on 26 September having returned to Rigby Road depot after an enthusiast tour with Coronation 304. 31 was built in 1901 as a four wheel open top double decker with reversed stairs and - unusually - windscreens. The 15 cars were built for the Marton route and appearance was Box like hence the 'Marton Box' nickname. All were later top covered and five were comprehensively rebuilt, the other ten being replaced by Standards. 31 was one of the rebuilds in 1919 emerging on bogies, with an extended underframe and saloon and losing its top deck. C1928 a new top cover was fitted and the car ran until 1934. It then became an open topper for the third time as Engineering Car 4 (later 754) and ran until 1982 when replaced by a Unimog, briefly reappearing in 1983 to cover for the defective 753. In 1984 it moved on long term loan to Beamish in exchange for Sheffield 513's loan to Blackpool and was restored to 1919 condition entering service in 1988. It visited in 1997/8 and was completely repainted in spring 2010 prior to its current visit.

Back Garden - peering up in the conifer for the Migrant Hawker, I spotted this under one of the branches, I hadn't realised until googling, that there is a dark form of this moth. This is the 3rd Box tree moth I've seen in the last couple of weeks, thankfully we don't have any Box.
