this box hardly contains anything: just a pamphlet with a registration number. the label proudly declares "Designed by Apple in California." LOL
This is the box that the Disabled Guy built for my friends who play various historical sea captains at the renaissance faire.
Now, part of the discussion with me on what it had to look like (and I showed him photos of the previous box- which looked like a little coffin), he asked: "What if I made it look like a treasure chest?"
Well, here we are. This treasure chest is very light (I can lift it easily and today, I'm in flareup mode), and as solid as a brick. The handles are garage door lift handles (we discussed strength/comfort with someone who builds garage doors), the hinges aren't as decorative as he wanted (those were too big to fit on the box). The latch was pure luck (we spotted it as we were walking away from the hinge section at Home Depot). All the hardware is from The Home Depot and not a craft store, so it is solid and as well as decorative.

When I was in grade school and invited to a birthday party, I would go to our cousin’s country grocery store and get a cigar box and fill it with candy. It cost next to nothing comparatively and every recipient liked it. When I turned 50, my friend Teresa reciprocated with this Tampa Nugget box. ANSH Round 142

Building boxes and frames for the 2025 bee season. Spring, as announced by the blooming of the Maple trees has arrived here in Florida. The bee population is increasing and with lots of brood and the presence of drones in the colonies, we're at the beginning of swarm season. The catch boxes were baited and set out last weekend and looking back through my records, for the past six years I see that the first swarms have occurred during the last week of February.
This metal lunch box was manufactured by Thermos in 1969. The lunch box features imagery from Diahann Carroll’s hit TV series, Julia which aired from 1968-1971 on NBC. Julia was applauded for its depiction of African-American life in a suburban setting, and this lunch box is notable for being the first depiction of a black woman on a lunch box.

New York City. These two images are another test of the high contrast black and white setting in the Ricoh GR vs the same RAW image processed in Lightroom. Each process has its strengths and I'm glad that modern cameras give us the ability to make two files, the original RAW and the in-camera processed JPEG.
There's no downside to shooting this way except it makes for more work later. So far, I'm enjoying the work and the results.
A few months ago I bought this lovely jewelry box from the 1950s. (Yes maybe a little slowto post the pictures) It cost less than a cup of coffee so it was a real bargain. The box is green with lovely ornaments. It doesn't matter that the lock dont work.
For the moment I only have a pocket watch, pearl necklace and great grandmothers old jewelry from the 1800s in it.

Trees on Box Hill, a famous beauty spot on the North Downs in Surrey, which last summer was the scene for the Olympic Cycling Road Race.
The view from Box Hill across the Surrey countryside is stunning, but on a sunny winter's afternoon, the view behind, with a setting sun, is one of golden light and wonderful colour, particularly with a dark sky background.
When I saw this little box I had to have it. It was the find of the week and for only a couple of dollars:) I think the little mushroom on top is supposed to be a pincushion.
The back of the box features that classic black and white lineart look that Kenner and other companies often used for the rear panel. If I ever do another one, I think I'll incorporate some red ink line art also, which was common back then too.
Camera gear has come a long way. However, my dad owned this wee Box Brownie when he was young and i've always thought it was an interesting looking contraption.
