The hinged lid can be adjusted to various degrees in relation to the base. The base is adjusted via the tripod head. So it could be tilted back almost flat for water color.
The signal box and a (recently repainted) semaphore signal at Gainsborough's Central Station, opened in July 1849 by the Manchester, Sheffield & Lincolnshire Railway Company. The signal is a later LNER design - the LNER took over this line from the MS&LR's successor, The Great Central.

Knocked together from scraps. I experimented a little with joints, wooden hinges, drawer pulls. I think I will need something bigger soon.
These boxes store our collection. They are lignin-free, acid-free, and buffered with 3% calcium carbonate. Every shelf is numbered, as are the boxes, so by checking our collections data base, we know exactly where everything is. This is what's in the "Repository" field that you can see when you search the collection. Now that we've moved things, every item in the boxes will need to be updated.

The Ultra Large Containervessel (ULCV) "CMA CGM Alexander von Humboldt" (16.022 TEU) is arriving at Port 2000 in Le Havre, France. Behind us the Hamburg Süd "San Clemente". It was following us down the river Elbe from Hamburg to the North Sea and now we met again.
Our ship is turning round in the special radius of turn because it is nearly 400m long. Very nice the "Greetings from the fireman" while starting the main engine.

Mit uns kam auch die "San Clemente" von Hamburg Süd in den Hafen, welche uns bei der Revierfahrt von Hamburg in die Nordsee bereits folgte. So trifft man sich wieder.
Anschliessend wurde unser Schiff im speziellen Drehkreis gedreht. Wir haben immerhin knapp 400m Länge. Schön zu sehen der Heizergruss beim Starten und Stoppen der Maschine.
These two cigar box planters rest between our Adirondack chairs on the patio. I originally was going to laminate the interiors, but I've decided just to drill a couple of holes in the base to allow for drainage. I'm sure that protective lamination would have been a good idea, but as this is my first cigar box planter, I want to do as little as possible to customize the boxes, so I can see everything that can go wrong before I start trying to prepare against things going wrong. Who knows, if it works without lamination on the interior, then I've learned something and saved a step. If not, I'll just move them to a new, better prepared box ...
Photo taken on the The Angel Hill Bury St Edmunds. For those who have never visited the Town in Suffolk was, until the early 1870s, the site of the famous Bury Fair. People from Europe and across the Far East came to buy and sell. In recent years the Christmas Fayre held all over the Town has its focal pint here on Angel Hill and is now one of the biggest in the Country.
It is one of the finest Georgian Squares in England and is a tourist hotspot with the Abbey Gardens , Angel Hotel and the Athenaeum all of significant interest to the visitor.
The Abbeygate is probably Bury's most photographed building. It was rebuilt in 1347 after the locals pulled the original down.
Charles Dickens stayed at the Angel and read to audiences at the Athenaeum
Each year, Gallery Route One in Point Reyes invites over a hundred artists to create unique works of art using a wooden box.
Here are the inspiring artworks they created this year: they range in style from whimsical to poignant and thought-provoking. These photos were taken on closing day, when the gallery organized a live auction for each of this year’s 150 boxes. The proceeds support the gallery’s exhibits and community programs.
Two of the boxes were created by members of our art community: Howard Rheingold (a.k.a. Dr. Rindbrain) contributed an illuminated box called ‘Magical’, while Geo Monley and Meryl Rubenstein made ‘Les Puzzles.’
Members of ‘Pataphysical Studios came to cheer for their peers -- Dr. Really was the highest bidder for Dr. Rindbrain’s piece, which was thus kept in the family. After the show, we all went to Stellina to celebrate over a nice dinner.

Mechanically locking Thuxton signal box. Owen testing the mechanical locking after the work in the locking trays had been completed (except the bits for the Annetts locks).
The original Bideford signal box was demolished in 1968 but a replica of it was built in 1991. It’s exactly the same apart from not having a chimney breast. In 2004 a lever frame was installed together with related signaling fittings so you can still pull the levers and imagine you’re letting a train through! In 2018 a replica running-in-board was erected next to the box.
Nice phone. Nice Android. Lots of HTC apps bundled (eg. FriendStream, music player, calendar, Facebook, YouTube, Flickr), pre-configured (eg. shrinking photos for MMS), and a sprinkling of Telstra apps (eg. Yellowpages, Whitepages, QR Code Scanner) make this a very nice phone out of the box.

One box for each boy for a gift. My boys like strange and odd things. I figured these antique dynamite boxes would make great storage for their DVD's and conversation pieces as well.

The first sewing box I ever owned was a birthday gift from my parents when I was a little girl. The second was a gift to my Grandfather from someone he worked with many years ago and which my mother gave to me. The third I found while thrifting and I wonder at its history.
And this is the fourth, my parents gave me yesterday, which was my Grandmothers.
It is a beautiful pink and white woven sewing box, lined in a pale pink satiny fabric with little faux pearls instead of buttons. It was filled with old hand embroidered hankies she had been saving, some still wrapped in their original plastic.
I remember that Grandma had a little sewing room off the dining room in her old house. There was a small cupboard and lots of drawers. There we old jam jars with rusty lids full of old tape measures, pins and buttons. Things tied with lengths of stocking. Large heavy scissors hanging up on hooks. My sister and I used to love sneaking in to the sewing room just to look at everything, but I don't remember seeing this old sewing box in there.
