Most of the little snowdrops are fading now but they are being replaced by colourful spring blooms.

Bow Lake, Banff National Park, Alberta
A view across Bow Lake. Bow Glacier on the left. Portal Peak is on the right, bathed in mid-morning light from an opening in the clouds. The meltwater that supplies Bow Lake comes from the glacier and tumbles over a tall waterfall, Bow Glacier Falls, before flowing into the lake.
According to the signs at the trailhead, these are bows and scalp knot symbols.

How many of you have seen a fog bow before? They are pretty neat phenomenon! Can you see the tiny bow in the center?
Bowes Museum is a museum and art gallery in Barnard Castle built for John Bowes and his French wife Josephine and opened in 1892. Its style is the result of a promise by John to build Josephine a French chateau as a gift for leaving France and coming to England with him.
Very early on a rainy day at Bow Lake in Banff National Park. The bent tree seemed to be telling a story of it's own.

Had to drop the car off this morning for a service and MOT. Proper pea souper when I left the house . But on my way home I could see the sun burning off the mist at the higher levels. Time for a walk with the camera then....
I'd seen the fog bow develop and by the time I found a half decent composition it had started to fade as quickly as it appeared. Quite a special sight to see nevertheless...
An approaching female duck seems inquisitive about my presence and churns up a bow wake in the lagoon water. The non-migratory endemic Hawaiian duck, koloa maoli (Anas wyvilliana), was once abundant enough to be a local food source and sold to visiting whaling ships. The koloa maoli is now considered endangered due to habitat loss and fertile hybridization with escaped, released, and vagrant mallards (Anas platyrhynchos). This koloa is very likely ancestral hybridized as genetic studies indicate only a few remaining koloa maoli exist, mostly on the island of Kauai.
built in the style of a French Chateau the Bowes Museum is actually a purpose built Art museum and gallery from the 19th Century. It's just on the edge of Barnard Castle in County Durham.
