“The illusion of freedom will continue as long as it's profitable to continue the illusion. At the point where the illusion becomes too expensive to maintain, they will just take down the scenery, they will pull back the curtains, they will move the tables and chairs out of the way and you will see the brick wall at the back of the theater.” Frank Zappa

The rainbow was starting to quickly fade as I took this exposure there looking down Middle River towards the end of Wilson Point. With the extra low tide the sea grass there in the river can be seen at the water's surface in this extended exposure too. Making for some interesting details there in the water foreground.
A look at Portal Peak and Mount Thompson reflecting off the surface of Bow Lake in Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada. The Bow Glacier, which is part of the Wapta Icefield and is the source of Bow Lake's water, can be seen.

A very, merry Christmas to all the people that have liked and commented on my images in the past year. Thank you very much for your support, it is greatly appreciated. :-D For those of you who don't already know, this is sunrise at Bow Fiddle Rock at Portknockie in Morayshire, Scotland.
A closer view of this iconic falls basically in Banff township as it rumbles 30 feet over a low-gradient pitch of channeled bedrock.
Different perspectives in comments.
The Bow river begins 60 miles upstream as meltwater from the Bow Glacier, flowing south through Banff en route to the prairies and Hudson Bay far beyond.
The 1953 Marilyn Monroe film River of No Return featured the falls (the actual River of No Return is the Salmon river in Idaho).
Have a wonderful Friday and week ahead.
First stop on today's jaunt along some of the Moray Firth coast with Steve (Stoates) was at Bow Fiddle Rock near Portknockie.
The cloud cover was changing all the time but not enough to give us one of those spectacular sunrises I always hope for, so we had to settle for something more subtle.

An impressive bull elk seems to be taking a bow for his performance in gathering his nearby harem of cows. In reality, he is taking a common stance to display his fighting gear to a foe out of the frame. The foe realized he was out matched and departed without challenging this guy.
Front bow of a sailing boat with colorful gear. The term "bow" is thought to originate from the curved shape of the bow, resembling a bow used for archery.
Some boats feature a bow pulpit, which is an extension of the bow area that extends beyond the hull. This is often used for mounting navigation lights, anchors, and other equipment. It provides passengers with a space to enjoy the view or for convenient storage, enhancing the overall comfort and utility of the vessel.
The bow is the first part of the boat to encounter new waters, symbolizing the potential for exploration, discovery, and new experiences.
Shot of the Bow River in Banff, Canada. Beautiful scenery through the Banff and Jasper National Park areas! Already looking forward to going back there some day.
Bowes railway in the North East does not have any working steam currently but on my visit in October 2008 for an open weekend 3 engines were in steam.
I hope that this photograph answers the question that was posed on the internet: "I'm looking for a compact camera and I am looking at the Lumix DMC-TZ80. Now reading reviews online are giving me mixed feelings. I see a lot of comments about how it takes bad pictures... So the question is, is it the camera or just the way people are using it?"
This is an uncropped zoom shot from the Lumix DMC-TZ80. I doubt I could have achieved a better result even with my 45.7 MP Nikon D850. And this compact camera has 18 MP. So you see, it's not about the sensor size or the specs of a particular camera. It is all about the light and composition.
