Shot for college, 5x4, 90mm, Fuji pro 160s, scanned on Hasselblad flextight, 3x Bowens Esprit, Pocketwizard.

The heat and humidity broke after that rain they made came down yesterday. Time to cover up the sun again until the next round begins.

STROBIST

Shot with a TTL speedlite Canon 430 EX II, which was directed to the opposite wall, so the light comes from behind and illuminates the puppet as backlight.

I have no idea, what the name of this technique could be, so I call "Counter Bouncing".

DETAILS

Well, now, whuz 'dis again? Ok, here you go:

You know this technique of bouncing your flash over the ceiling, perhaps an Elder one tought you? So you know bouncing over the ceiling.

You know van Niekerk? Sure you do. So you know side bouncing.

And then ... we all love backlight, but backlight & bouncing??

Sure, why not :-))

Just direct your flashgun to the opposite wall, and be careful, that there is no lightspill on your mannequin (this can be managed using a flag). That's it. And the result? Well, notice the nice rim at the arms of the puppet...

And the fill light on the face of the puppet? That's the light bouncing back from me and from the scene behind me.

Piece of cake.

So now you know Counter Bouncing. .-)

Are the rigid STROBIST administrators still there?

You really did read all that text?

Ok, yes, this is on-camera flash, and this shot definitely does **not** follow your rigid rules.

So go on, kick it out of the pool. ;-))

I spotted this Common Raven along the border in south Langley. It was just sitting on a deserted road, then it hopped and landed and then repeated itself before it flew off. Not sure if it was injured or looking for crushed bugs on the road.

Some nutty people who chose to do this with their Sunday morning!

A quick set-up I made dedicate to my fellow Filipino people that was affected by Typhoon Yolanda/Haiyan. The Filipino spirit will never be broken and anytime now, we're going to rebuild.

Prayers to everyone.

The final attempt was winding down and the wind was picking up even more. There was a brief moment when the whisk holding the steel wool bounced across the sand a little of the magic of the even dissipated. However, I managed to capture that moment in this long exposure.

Day Twenty Seven:

Don't look at me. It's gone. Some bugger's pinched it. My mask, I can't go out without my mask. Well I say go out when what I mean is sullenly brood amongst the cavernous tombs which lie beneath the house of opera. It is kind of my thing. And also it does stop me from picking at it. It's so hard not to. I know it's really bad for it but it's so satisfying. Getting the right bit of crusty scabbiness and slowly trying to peel it off in the oner.

Yes that could explain the sorrowfully solitude filled life that I've lead. I don't even notice the eruption of bodily functions anymore. Well I live alone so why would I. I just sit back and appreciate the echo they create bouncing off the rocky outcrops. That one was a B flat.

Oh but to have someone to share my song with. To enrich my being. To tell me when I have stuff on my face. There's no mirrors down here. I once spent a fortnight with a dried in dod of soup. I would have looked rather foolish leaping through the rafters with half my dinner running down my face. It's just not dignified.

But alas I am stuck here till I manage to craft a new mask and all I have is a box of glitter and an empty washing up liquid bottle. This could be interesting.

An unusal capture of sea movement and light. Look how the light looks as though it's bounced across the water onto the cascade.

Thanks for looking.

Soapwort a lovely flower that does smell of a block of unscented soap, this one is a double so I suspect a garden escapee called Bouncing Betty what a super name, and who I wonder was Betty?

This Crow was struggling to get its balance on this branch and was bouncing up and down. Rayleigh Cemetery, Essex.

Long-tailed tits (Aegithalos caudatus) are small, fluffy birds with distinctive black, white, and pinkish plumage. They are known for their long tails, which are larger than their bodies, and their bouncing flight. As i was coming back from the park caught a family of these stunning bird so fast never keep still also the light was a bit tricky but added to the image..a happy man.

Northern's 142068 clatters over the points at Carlisle on 17th December 2018 in winter morning light with an early service from Newcastle.

Before the huge "Carlisle Power Signal Box" sign was affixed to the building on the right!

According to the sign by this track, the track was part of an experiment. A trolly was to travel along the track at speed, hit the buffers and catapult the bomb into the sea. However, it failed catching fire and smashing through the buffers.

I am not sure what speed they expected it to travel, the bomb had a long distance to travel to clear all the rocks to the sea except at high tide.

When I saw this in a yard near my first appointment for the day,I couldn't resist.

This summer wildflower is also known as Soapwort. Pioneers crushed the leaves and stem to produce a lather that substituted for soap.

Strobist info:

Hand held speed light held above in slave mode bouncing off ceiling, triggered by Cowboy studios wireless triggers.

These icicles were growing on the side wall of the mill race, they were lit up like neon chandeliers by the flickering light bouncing off the water rushing past just below them. When I came back an hour later the thaw was already melting them into liquid oblivion.

Once again I've been out of the loop due to other commitments. My regular contacts will have noticed the lack of 365/6 images, this is due to those commitments and my lack of time to produce images that I want on my flickr stream...I find it impossible to post images that aren't up to scratch. I joined flickr so that I could share my photographs and get them critiqued/slammed/complimented/dissed, whatever, and for that process of criticism to happen they need to be around for a few days at least on the front page, doing a 365 doesn't allow for that, so all things considered I called it a day. I've failed the task of the 365 but I succeeded with regards to the reasons I chose to do the 365, namely, to push myself out of my comfort zone style/technique/genre wise and to get my camera in my hands more. As usual I was Captain Hasty when I made the decision and I didn't put enough thought into just what a commitment I was taking on, which was very, very foolish of me. My evenings became consumed by producing decent images for the 365 while other photographic avenues I wanted to explore were left gathering dust, and for me they are more important so, 365/6 had to go. I wish everybody else who started the project all the best, you deserve all the praise you will get when you finally reach 366! :-)

Trouncing around in Ms. K's garden in the dark I used the 580II to bounce flash light off the house and captured these at ISO 1600. Pretty cool getting the camera to focus in the dark.

Seen on Fisherman's Wharf, San Francisco.

This light bulb was filled with paint and then dropped; it broke on the second bounce.

I haven't taken a popcorning chinchilla photo in a while.
