Immigrations, Customs Enforcement (ICE) patrols borders and detains hundreds of people in crowded and poorly supplied facilities.
The challenge was to decorate a postcard with the border stickers from stamp sheets. I still have a gazillion of those little things. I should have saved the "#n in a series" stickers I used in the upper right of this one, and made a whole series of these postcards!

Border City, NV. We got lost on the way (!) because Border City is not in Apple maps at all. Can't say I blame them because it consists of one store: the hotel/casino/bar/cafe/market. Actually the view from the room was stunning, and we slept better.

After googling the words border protection I decided to approach the political idea of a border as a landscape problem. I reproduced some of the pictures I found through watercolour on a screenprinting silk.
The paintings/ monotypes try to resemble the idea of representation of a space in conflict, the very idea of belonging and nationality is questioned as a non-place.

We had a grandly spooky time at Borders bookstore's 2010 Halloween Spooktacular at Kips Bay (32nd Street and 2nd Avenue, Manhattan)! Kids donned spectacular costumes and made Halloween treat bags with us, listened to hilarious Halloween tales, and paraded in costume around the store. Special thanks to Coreen Mann and Cale Hand for accommodations!
