Theseus is the name of this game. It's a Czech board game, a rather neat mix between an abstract puzzle and a thematic experience. Factions stranded on a spaceship, as many different ones as there are players - here, we played with two, with the Scientists (who want to research everything and lay traps to defend themselves) against the Bots (who want to destroy everything by finding its weaknesses and then hitting fast and hard).
This was the fourth play, before this one the two of us had played three with Aliens (like the Gyger ones, running through ducts and multiplying) against the Greys (Area 51 like aliens who rely on Psi powers like mind control and invisibility).

Kiwetin is a dice-based race game that seems a bit too simple at first, but as players climb through the forest, the forest itself changes the game.
Beautiful artwork and crafted game pieces really set this game apart.

BACKSTORY: Our Christmas haul. It wasn't as much as previous years (only filling up the pool table instead of both the pool table and air hockey table), which isn't a bad thing. Quality over quantity is better!

I decided that the 3D board would make a good moonscape for photographing- there are gridlines marked for movement within the game but a quick spray of paint should fix that!

What is the most interesting/unique boardgame board?
Got to try Tzolk'in with 4 players recently and it felt so much tighter! In this dynamic worker placement game players are working to construct buildings, research technologies, and gain the favor of the gods during the Mayan Times. Each turn players choose to either place one or more of their workers on one of the five interlocking gears or take their existing workers off those gears to gain the benefit associated with that space. There are a lot of things to do on this incredibly designed board!

Tzolk'in is a worker-placement game based on the Mayan calendar, using a mechanic of gear systems to represent the passage of time.
This game is a personal favourite; though it has a fairly steep learning curve, it's an incredibly fun and rewarding game once you get the hang of it.
