2020-03-31 When the cat goes away, the mice will play. With the combination of people staying home and businesses closing down for the duration of the COVID-19 situation, criminals are operating with less eyes on them. Businesses in the Robson Street high fashion neighbourhood of Vancouver have had to start boarding up their windows to prevent smash and grab thefts.

Built circa 1791 in a section of Rensselaer then known as Bath-on-Hudson, used as a tavern and hotel until its abandonment in the 1980s. Rensselaer, New York.
A former rock shop, now abandoned, seen in Winslow, Arizona. I guess the rock market is not what it used to be.

An awesome old place that was for sale on Napoleon Avenue for quite some time. It recently sold. I am disappointed I will not be taking it on as a "next home." LOL! :) I am pretty sure it sold for several million $$.

There were 6 - 8 of these cabins along the road....difficult to capture with the lens I had with me at the time. I was just trying not to get hit by on coming traffic making its way down the narrow mountain road they sit along side of.

Originally a late 19th century shirtwaist mill; currently the old mill stands vacant and in poor condition. Warrensburg, New York.
And I was SO looking to eating here too!
Driving along side the Salton Sea on Highway 111, I saw a cool sign above a lovely building. Cafe. I was hungry. So I flew off the side of the rode into the sand then hit my breaks full force. Probably shouldn't of done that at 85 mph.

An old house in a side road. I thought at first that maybe it was just closed up for the Winter months, but the windows definitely look closed up for good.
This is the whole house taken in 2014.

Hope someone does something with it as it's a lovely house.
Thank you for your favourites. :O)

This is where Theodore Roosevelt was staying when he found out President McKinley was dying. It’s the last intact structure at the old mining site at Upper Works.
Taken near Findlay Market in the Over-the- Rhine neighborhood of Cincinnati, Ohio.
Like many of the buildings in this area during the time I took the shot, this one is boarded and appears to be vacant. Since then, urban renewal (read gentrification) has taken over, prices have skyrocketed and things have changed greatly. My guess is that this particular building has been rehabbed or remodeled by now. Although I used to frequent the area, I've not been there in several years due in part to Covid, but also because the character of the neighborhood has greatly changed to the point I no longer find it as interesting or diverse as it once was.
Note the peeling paint and think about the reason for it = a lesson in why you should think hard before painting bricks and why you should maintain down spouts.
