From slightly higher up the hill, at Alamo Square, Robert Frank took a photograph in 1956 that became one of the eighty-three he would publish in The Americans.
In late October, I saw the original photo in a show of Frank's photos at Stanford University, and while I thought I recognized the apartment building and intersection at Steiner and Fulton Streets, I decided to investigate it the next time I was in the neighbourhood. I made my way to the park after renewing my drivers license in late November and confirmed what I had suspected, but also discovered that trees have grown in the intervening years to obscure the view that Frank had. I took a photo with my mobile at the time, but without a description, you would not be able to place the location.
A few weeks ago, I was in the neighbourhood again, with plans to walk to Alta Plaza Park, a little farther up Steiner, when I noticed that a large tree at the base of the hill at Alamo Square had been felled by winds during a recent storm. So, I scurried up the steps to see if the tree's absence made any difference in the view from what I had determined was Frank's location on the hill. Alas, it didn't.
As I was performing my "investigation", a woman with a stroller came along and soon after, a man looking at his phone. He spotted my Rolleicord and asked me if I was also looking for the spot from which Frank had taken his photo. (He had the 1956 photo on his phone.) I chuckled that there was someone else out there as geeky as I am about such stuff. I told him that I'd previously surveyed the area and that I thought the spot was a bit higher up the hill and to the right, basing it on the overlap of the buildings at the intersection below. I'm pretty sure that the path in Frank's photo is the one seen here (now paved), although it's entirely possible that the landscaping has moved the path (I don't think so).
He wandered away and I asked the woman if she minded if I took a photo of them. I was pretty sure he'd agree to it, so, I figured I'd ask her permission first.
It was a partly cloudy day, and at 3:30 or so, the sun was beginning to get pretty low in the sky, so, I was a bit afraid that this wouldn't come out very sharp. (I think I shot at 1/30th of a second.) The sun ducked behind some clouds just as I was shooting this, so it's a tad underexposed, but I'm otherwise fairly pleased. I photographed this on colour film, but I much prefer the black-and-white conversion.

Esse aí é meu caderno do blog, como dá pra ver. É nele que eu escrevo alguns dos posts desse meu diário virtual, quando eles não surgem enquanto estou aqui na frente do computador. Principalmente os que falam sobre sentimentos. Já está com a capa bem desgastadinha, mas eu gosto bastante dele. tem umas coisas bem legais que nem foram pro blog também... Enfim, ele acaba sendo meu diário.

I decided to quit struggling against the gray and work with it instead. Prior to creating the HDR image I desaturated the +2 EV image in Photoshop. Then created the HDR in Photomatix and tonemapped it.
After that I brought it back into Photoshop and tweaked the saturation on her eyes and lightened them a little. Adjusted curves overall. Added the 'watermark' and saved for web.
This is a bit more the look I'm shooting for, I think. Not nearly there yet but getting closer.

终于开通了自己的中文博客，各位老江湖们，给洒家捧个人场呗～
一直没有开通博客，一是因为懒，二是分不清自己的心事，多少是可以与人分享，与闺蜜分享，与要好的朋友分享，与普通朋友分享，与陌生人分享，甚至于与那些可能对自己怀有敌意的人分享。分不清楚这个界限的人，开通一个博客，无疑是搬起石头砸自己的脚。你的那些坏心眼，小阴谋，要不要见光，你那些小心思，异想天开，要不要公之於眾，都不要太过张扬。
想通了不再拘泥于自己狭小的世界，想去认识更多的人，见识更多的事，想走出去，想长大了。
今までのように、自分のペースで走れない寛平さんにとって、
ゴール後のケアは非常に重要です。
と言う事で、いつもお世話になっている伊藤超短波を入浴後に念入りに行っています。
寛平さん「いや〜ホンマ気持ちええわ、ここまで足がもったのも伊藤超短波のおかげやで。」
なんだかこのまま寝ちゃいそうな寛平さんです。
スタッフからのお知らせ
寛平さんが自分のペースで走れない一番の理由は、
寛平さんを追いかける応援です。
写真を撮り逃したから追いかけてもう一度撮ろうとしたり、
ハイタッチを受けようと何度も追い抜いては手を差し出したり、
さらには、狭い歩道にも関わらず、一緒に並走を試みたりする方がいるからです。
みなさん、上記の様な行動は、絶対にお止め下さい。
しかし、寛平さんと一緒に走りたいと思っている方も多いはず！！
そこで、間寛平の地球一周を祝うマラソン大会が、
大阪ゴール後に行われます。
日時は、２０１１年３月５日（土）
マラソン大会は、「フル」「ハーフ」「１０ｋｍ」の３タイプで、
前夜祭や表彰式、完走記念パーティーなど、
寛平さんと触れ合えるイベントも目白押しです。

お昼から、２０１６年オリンピック開催立候補４カ国同時のイベント、
ファンライドに出席しました。
自転車に乗って東京をアピールしながら、
コペンハーゲンの街を疾走です。
東京オリンピック、かなり盛り上がってきました！！
本日、大竹（宮島の手前）からスタートし、
広島市内を抜けて、安芸区に入ったところでゴールしました。
移動距離 ４４．９ｋｍ
所要時間 ８時間４３分
総移動距離 ４０７１０．１ｋｍ
たくさんの子供達に囲まれ、
寛平さんも疲れが吹っ飛んだようです。
寛平さん「日本の将来を頼んだぞ！」
子供達「はい！」
こういった触れ合い１つ１つが地球を一周して寛平さんが感じた事ではないでしょうか。

おはようございます。
昨日の興奮冷めやらないままの夜、いい凪でゆっくり休めるはずが何度も目がさめました。いまだに信じられない出来事だけに・・・。
昨日1日が、数年前に寛平さんとこの企画について、酒を飲みながら何度も話をし、そして何年もかけて船を整備し、何度も長距離長時間合宿を繰り返し、そして12月17日に大阪出発、1月1日鴨川出航、そして昨日・・・「シフト」しました。
このアースマラソンは昨日までは、企画が先行し、空想や夢物語の延長線上での「実行」でした。しかし昨日「シフト」しました。いよいよ本物の企画として立ち上がった気がしてなりません。まだまだスタートですが、やっと「何か？」がこの企画を大きな意味で許してくれた感じがしてなりません。
そして昨日はその吉兆になる、実はたくさんのエピソードやイベントがあったのです。
まずは前夜、出航して以来の最高の夜。これが吉兆１。
そして朝のメールにアップしたように、まずはイルカがたくさん遊びに来てくれました。これが吉兆２．
ヨットの前を何度も何度も「こっちへこいよ〜」「こっちが君たちの行き先だぞ〜」って言ってるみたいですね！と、ふたり話をしていました。
次はイベント。生ものが恋しくなったので、船の中にあるなま物といえば、「たまねぎ」玉ねぎをスライスし水にしたしてから、マヨネーズと醤油でむさぼりたべました。おいしけど胸焼けがし、残り半分はオリーブオイルで炒めて塩コショウで食べました。
寛平さん「たまねぎ食ってなんか体がだるかったのが、吹っ飛んだわ」これが吉兆３。
そしてさらにイベント！長期戦を覚悟していたので、いよいよ「釣り」に挑戦！
一本は最新のダイワのタックルで、50キロでもあがるさおとリールでマグロの仕掛けをセット。もう一本は鴨川の清照丸からもらった本物漁師のカツオ仕掛け、アングラー対漁師の対決を決行、寛平さんは「釣り」は初めてで「こんなんで釣れんのぉ〜」を連発「たいくつしのぎなるな〜」・・・と、しかし飽き性の寛平さんはこのあと・・・。
そうこうしているうちに・・・馬場さんのメールを受信！ふたりで喜びあい、早速返信のメールやビデオを数時間かけて送信していたら、「バン！」と何かかがぶっ飛んだ音、僕はキャビンから飛び出し、コックピットにいた寛平さんに「どこで音なりました？」「どこかとびましたか？」と矢継ぎ早にきく
「なんか頭の上あたりを拳銃で撃たれたみたいやねん！」・・・・とにかくぶっと飛びそうな場所、アウトホールやメインシートのブロックやリギンなどなど船を細かくチェックするがどこも異常がない？？？
ふと船尾をみると、なんと大物仕掛けのほうのリールの糸400メートルがすべて引きずりだされてロッドが折れていました。「これか！」「寛平さん、これだけ糸を引きずりだすのだから、音してたでしょう！」「なんかひゅー言うてるから。
ひっきゃんのいびきかな〜と思って中見たりしててんけどな〜」だめだこりゃ！
「僕はパソコンにかじりついて送信作業をやっていたじゃないですか！」
「カンペイさん！いつも言っているじゃないですか！船ではすこしでも変な音や動きがあったらそれは異常を知れせるサインだから、無視せず原因を突き止めないと！」と詰め寄ったら、そんなこといわれても俺釣り知らんしな〜・・・という顔・・それはそれである意味あたっています。大きなマグロを逃がした釣り人のいらいらだけでした。失礼いたしました。しかしそれからが笑えます。
日も暮れ、うっかり漁師仕掛けをしまい忘れていたのに気付き、あわてて船尾で回収すると、なんとそこにはイカの足が一本ぶら下がっている！「やったー！生や！」と大騒ぎ！早速塩をふって、網でげその塩焼き！おいしかったです。そんなこんな釣りのハプニングが吉兆４と、いろいろなことが矢継ぎ早に起きた1日でした。
こんな夜はさらに何かがと！余計に慎重になり、視界が悪いので何度もレーダーを確認し、このうれしい夢が消えないよう必死にワッチをしました。
長くなってすいません。ただあまりにも突然の自然の変化をまのあたりにし、これは何かの力が動かした感がしてなりません。
だいぶ前のブログにも書きましたが、いよいよ本物の企画として「シフト」したと信じます。抽象的にしか言えませんが・・・・・。
ほんとに不思議です。イカの足って・・・・（笑）できすぎや！オチとして・・・（笑）
