A new block. About all that I managed to sew these days.

I made these six umbrella blocks. I was going to do 1 dozen for group 2 in the BBC, but I gave up my spot due to over committment. However, I had the patterns cut up, so I decided to make a few anyway!

I have moved each hexagon inside the pined area to help even out the shapes.

With your fingertips move-massage the fabric to relief any stress points. You should feel no snags otherwise you may have pined out the fabric to taught.

This block is for Anna in the Bee Lovely Quilting Bee. She chose the "map of the states" block by Oh Fransson for her block. The fabrics she sent to all of us are great! I enjoyed seeing all of these fabrics in person. Some of them I've never seen before. Really excellent. Can't wait to see the whole quilt together.

chinomaggie gave us the freedom to do these blocks in any colors we wanted, as long as they were high contrast.

Originally thought to be anti-tank blocks as their location happens to coincide with the genuine WWII AT blocks that were removed in the 1960s/70s. These were originally moorings for yachts that are no longer in use.
