Taken at the Portsmouth Roller Wenches bout at Horizon Leisure Centre. Two bouts between the Portsmouth A Team against the Bristol Harbour Harlots and the Portsmouth B Team against the Bath Roller Derby Girls.

Great wins by both Portsmouth teams.

I was lucky enough to be next to a team member (not playing) who was able to fill me in with some of the finer points of play so thanks to Admiral, hope your stats looked good :-)

This block for Tonie was so much fun to make. She chose the "Spool Block" designed by Krista Fleckenstein from the book Modern Blocks. The pattern calls for a single cut of 6 1/2" x 6 1/2" of fabric for the "thread," but Tonie put her own spin on it and asked us to substitute six 1 1/2" strips.

I have seen such huge cement blocks been used for the construction of wave breaks.

dunno why..i am not able to take even one good snap for like 2 months

now.........i hate this dry patch..all i could do..was to spill ma tea........ :(..

In case you're wondering what size the pattern is, the distance between the lime green striped lines is about 8 cm or 3"

I'm ridiculously behind in my twitter bee so I started the slow road to catching up today.

These blocks are "vintage", as they date back to my childhood in the 1950's. My Dad made them for my brothers and me out of scrap 2 by 4's. This is about all that's left of them. As you can see, they have been much played with!

blocks are roughly 9" - trying to decide how big I can make this.

i'm trying to use up scraps but am running out!! if anyone wants to swap some (i'm especially looking for polka dots, or other green/red with white), I'd be happy to send some scraps (these colors or others) in exchange. small scraps are fine for this project.

This is the current state of my x and + blocks. I'm a little behind (trying to finish a twin size top by march!) but i really like the random colors that are showing up. I had myself a little scrap cutting party today, so more blocks are coming soon! The whole top will be 8 rows of 12 blocks, unless I quit early :)

Another fun block, this one by Krista. Again a challenge, but I think it looks like The Sound of Music meets Alice at the Tea Party... Thanks Krista! :)

Old wooden childrens building blocks - sanded and painted and decorated with stamps, stickers, paint, vintage papers, magazine images.

Their only option was to raise their voices. A truck with materials from the power company came to start the construction. The women stood their ground and blocked the road. We will do this until they stop the project, they said.

A block for the October design. I've enjoyed making it a lot. It goes pretty fast. I was only wondered whether it will turn very or just a little bit wonky :) As I could not decide which of the fabrics Brioni send me use for this block I used all of them.
