I guess this angle of the Eiffel Tower must have been shot a bazillion times, but I was still pretty happy to see it through my own lens for once.

Every hour in the evening, if you get the timing right, the tower actually sparkles for a minute with blinking lights in addition to the usual yellow lighting. I guess that is slightly different!

An excerpt from Jeff's Grade 1 report card. Is it just me, or does the comment from his teacher seem a bit odd? The phrase "deeply rooted" seems a bit harsh in a Grade 1 report card!

See this Blathering.

The blinking white light means you can cross, but red means the lift gates will soon be lowered.

In May/June of 2007 we made our first long distance trip since we flew back from Ethiopia in Oct 2005. We visited friends (long missed) in a few places and also attended the Confirmation of one of my babysitter-kids :D

This is from our first day. Traveling by bus from Alta to Lakselv, in the northern part of Norway.

I had to play piano for the church choir; I messed up about once per song. Except on God Bless America, which blew away in the wind.

She always blinks when I take her picture straight on.

The ridiculously bright LEDs on the front of my home-made external hard drive box. 4x 320GB drives and FireWire 800 for the win!

We ate here one night. It was on the road going up to Taos Ski Valley in NM. It was nicely decorated and a nice dinner but nothing out of this world.

Alias Mr No-blinking.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Snoet at his best. Here you can see why he got the name "Snoet", a Dutch word very difficult to translate, perhaps 'phiz'. Face is too ordinary, think more like a sweet kind of nick-name.

Will be 17 years old this year!

Scratches on his nose from a fight, almost "whole" again.

In our back yard.

every time there is a Wi-Fi signal, they blink. Franklin Institute.

These are battery powered Christmas lights that I found at Target. Battery holder takes 4 AA cells and has an on/off switch. No batteries included - so I put in some rechargeables, and so far the batteries have been running 2 days. The pattern constantly changes, from a slower color change to a rapid blink. Each "snowflake" changes from blue to red to green to gold to orange - very cool stuff. It would be nice to be able to tell it to slow down the blinking to a more mellow speed!

CODE

/* Blinking LED

* ------------

*

* turns on and off a light emitting diode(LED) connected to a digital

* pin, in intervals of 2 seconds. Ideally we use pin 13 on the Arduino

* board because it has a resistor attached to it, needing only an LED

int ledPin = 13; // LED connected to digital pin 13

void setup()

{

pinMode(ledPin, OUTPUT); // sets the digital pin as output

}

void loop()

{

digitalWrite(ledPin, HIGH); // sets the LED on

delay(1000); // waits for a second

digitalWrite(ledPin, LOW); // sets the LED off

delay(1000); // waits for a second
