These are battery powered Christmas lights that I found at Target. Battery holder takes 4 AA cells and has an on/off switch. No batteries included - so I put in some rechargeables, and so far the batteries have been running 2 days. The pattern constantly changes, from a slower color change to a rapid blink. Each "snowflake" changes from blue to red to green to gold to orange - very cool stuff. It would be nice to be able to tell it to slow down the blinking to a more mellow speed!

Lucky to get this photo of one of my shy frogs who lives in the nursery pond. It was partially submerged in water and kept blinking. At one point two were next to each other and they looked like identical twins!
And then Tom played with the BlackBerry so that the screen would light up his hand, and whileith he moved his hand around, the periodic green blinking - signalling no email - enabled for some fun placements of green lights in the air.
my son has this little red plastic ball - when it hits something an LED starts blinking like crazy inside it. I have no idea what purpose this serves other than making it interesting for the camera.

This is the face Libby gives when she's sleepy from the sun. She's trying to look at me but keeps blinking her eyes. They stay shut longer and longer. She's intoxicated by the warmth and light of the sun. It's too cute.

Drinking in the morning sun
Blinking in the morning sun
Shaking off the heavy one
Heavy like a loaded gun
What made me behave that way?
Using words I never say
I can only think it must be love
Oh, anyway, it's looking like a beautiful day
Someone tell me how I feel
Its silly wrong but vivid right
Oh, kiss me like the final meal
Yeah, kiss me like we die tonight
Cause holy cow, I love your eyes
And only now I see the light
Yeah, lying with me half-awake
Oh, anyway, its looking like a beautiful day
When my face is chamois-creased
If she think I wink, I did
Laugh politely at repeats
Yeah, kiss me when my lips are thin
Cause holy cow, I love your eyes
And only now I see the light
Yeah, lying with me half-awake
Stumbling over what to say
Well, anyway, its looking like a beautiful day
So throw those curtains wide
One day like this a year would see me right
Or just blinking. Whichever you think is more credible. Photo credit to Zia. Or Lele. I have no idea. I was drunk. OR BLINKING.
Nictitating membrane blinking over a raven's eye. All birds have this membrane. It helps to lubricate, clean, and protect the eye. The nictitating membrane varies in transparency from species to species. This membrane "blinks" from inside to outside of the eye.
This Raven was observed in Painted Desert National Park, Arizona, USA.
