15 year old twins Elly Perez, chalks the door to the families West side home. Father William “Jud” Weiksnar of Ss. Columba-Brigid Church blessed over 30 homes as part of the Three Kings Blessing to ring in 2020. Either on Twelfth Night (January 5), the twelfth day of Christmastide and eve of the feast of the Epiphany, or on Epiphany Day (January 6) itself, Catholics chalk their doors with a pattern such as this, "20 ✝ C ✝ M ✝ B ✝ 20", with the numbers referring "to the calendar year (20 and 20, for instance, for this year, 2020); the crosses stand for Christ; and the letters have a two-fold significance: C, M and B are the initials for the traditional names of the Magi (Caspar, Melchior and Balthasar), but they are also an abbreviation of the Latin blessing Christus mansionem benedicat, which means, May Christ bless this house."

Built during the boom of 1907, the Blessing State Bank is one of the few remaining commercial buildings from this period. Possibly designed by Victoria architect Jules Leffland, designer of the Blessing Hotel, the bank operated until 1932. Blessing was without a bank until 1966, when it was restored to its original function and appearance. An asymmetrical entry, arched windows, flat roof, and stately feeling reflect a classic early 20th-century bank building. (1997) (Marker No. 12054)
