BTW, this shot is basically straight from the camera, no Photoshop. I used a flash with CTO (orange) gel from above-left, adjusted the WB and tweaked Vibrancy in Camera Raw. No sharpening. Used high-speed flash sync on camera, 1/1000 sec.
Bleeding Milk Cap (Lactarius rubrilacteus). When bruised, the cap, gills or stem of this species turn green. The exceptionally even bruising of the gills, shown here, is the result of rain and freezing overnight temperatures. The freezing buised the gills in this uniform manner. Portola Redwoods State Park. Tiny tiny heart up close! Got these to put out for my Dog Duke's cemetery stone. There's also a neighbor's bunny buried nearby they are for her too.
