Hidden away in Central London is this old building, a sign of times gone by perhaps. If it were not for some of the modern electrical items dotted around this could quite easily be from the Victorian era. This image was taken in the middle of the night, making use of the gas lamp to illuminate the street.

Bleeding Hearts are one of my favorite spring time blooming plants. They just hang so gracefully.

Dicentra spectabilis 'Alba'

On checking the RHS website I noticed this plant is listed as Lamprocapnos spectabilis.

I've been taking macros of our "bleeding heart" plants, as the flowers develop. Here are a few of my shots.

The Luzon Bleeding-heart (Gallicolumba luzonica) is one of a number of species of ground dove in the genus Gallicolumba that are called;bleeding-hearts. They get this name from a splash of vivid red colour at the centre of their white breasts. The Luzon Bleeding-heart is the species in which this feature is most pronounced, and on first sight it is hard to believe that the bird has not recently been wounded. This is also partially due to a reddish hue extending down the belly, providing the illusion of blood having run down the bird's front.

Note: It is a shy bird which typically runs from danger, spending most of its time on the forest floor, and only flying short distances if flushed. It only perches in trees if frightened or when nesting or roosting. The call is a repeated woo-oo similar to that of most doves and pigeons. It is a rare sight because of its cryptic behaviour.

Lamprocapnos spectabilis (bleeding heart or Asian bleeding-heart) is a species of flowering plant in the poppy family Papaveraceae, native to Siberia, northern China, Korea and Japan. It is the sole species in the monotypic genus Lamprocapnos, but is still widely referenced under its old name Dicentra spectabilis (now listed as a synonym). It is valued in gardens and in floristry for its heart-shaped pink and white flowers, borne in spring.
