I have the loan of a 100mm macro lens, so I thought I'd try it out. Here one branch of Bleeding Hearts, backlit in the morning sun in our garden.
its such a beautiful flower, and it captures the way my heart feels today. i'm reading a book talking about oil spills in the ocean...my heart bleeds for the destruction we cause as humans on this earth.
Having run this kitchen knife over my whetstones, it is good and sharp. Perhaps not at the bleeding edge of sharpness but not far off.
This particular plant is an old friend. Practically a member of the family. The plant grew in my garden at my previous home more than 20 years ago. When I moved to another city 16 years ago I dug it up and planted it in a flower bed at the new home. It has thrived and bloomed every year since.
This is a growing branch on the smaller of our two White Bleeding Heart plants. I like the flower transformation from the end of the branch to the base.
2 Bleeding hearts. The last two blooms on this string.... once again, at sunset with the sun fully behind them.

The original of this shot has had a bit of a resurgence lately so I went back into the folders and found another file to work with. It may be cheating a bit but it it's a different starter file and I thought I'd play with it a bit and add a few textures and overlays. The original can be found here:

Here's a photo I took of some Bleeding Hearts. Just so ya know: I shoot all nature photos where the nature is...I don't pick anything. These are out in the front yard, where they belong. gte
Watching fog roll down slopes bleeding from clouds above, washed by sun, I sit and enjoy the ebb and flow of its dance, fascinated.

Endemic to the Philippine Island of Luzon. This one resides in the Dan Moran Aviary at the OKC Zoo. Our beautiful world, pass it on.
Viewed this way up, the flowers can easily be seen as 'Bleeding hearts', but turn them upside-down and they become 'Lady in The Bath', looking a little like a lady sitting in a bathtub washing her hair!
