Mavricks, Ottawa

Back of the Bold Street fruit & Veg stall, August 2009. Now demolished.

These people have been selling fruit and veg on this site since the 1980s. Very convenient for local residents, restaurateurs, passers-through etc. Also very conducive to the ambience of the street. Whenever I visit a strange city, I usually find myself wandering through a street market, and this was the closest we had to that romantic ideal. No, St John's will not do.

Suddenly, it was discovered that the structure does not have planing permission, and had to be demolished. Much was made in the local press of the landlord's 'gangster connections'.

This coincided with the opening of a Tesco just across the road.

A random sign seen at Fox's Pizza Den in Downtown Brookhaven, Mississippi.

Matt. 7: 3-5

And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?

Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.

Many people are out to check him out as a stallion prospect for their mares...

I was wearing a red sundress this morning. My cat Felix decided to get a little too close while I applied makeup and I ended up with a mess everywhere. Not pretty. I hurriedly put this together. I don't think it's highly flattering, but I liked it overall. I started to just wear my red Saucony sneakers but decided that Audrey deserved a bit more bling. The ponytails were an obvious choice.

Blame enjoying life as a stud. I don't "blame" him...

It's at least partially my cousin Burt's fault that I'm a car nut. He used to come by in his latest car (including a white '63 Vette coupe with red interior) and tell stories about his various escapades. He hasn't changed, just expanded...

Manilla Road is a State/RTA funded road. Do not blame Tamworth City Council.

Blame Sally is, left to right, Monica Pasqual, Jeri Jones, Renee Harcourt, and Pam Delgado, the baby boomers’ answer to grrrl power. Rob Strom is helping out on bass, but as the band’s designated newby (new boy), keeps his testosterone in check.

The Marin County anti-divas range in age from 44 to 53, and have frequented Placerville over the last couple years, developing a loyal local following along the way. Their flirtation with the indie-pop edges of Americana is grounded on imaginative songwriting, often both personal and political, and estrogen-fueled vocals that raise goose flesh.

Powerful arrangements give these delightfully normal-looking women control over the throttle on their sonic locomotive. Their best songs begin delicately, then build to a crescendo of overlapping vocals, powerful roots rhythms, off mic hollers, guitar leads and exquisite keyboard work by Pasqual, who bounces between piano and accordion. The result is a percolating soulfulness that’s emotionally charged, highly melodic, and completely compelling.

More from a shooting trip with Brian. It's always fun to go shooting with Brian. At least one of us will get a creeper story. At least one of us will fall down or almost fall down. Plus he knows all the great spots to shoot (as seen above) and tolerates the fact that I act like a dork.

This is a view of "South North Little Rock", "South Dogtown", or Little Rock depending on who you ask. I vote for South Dogtown.

It wasn't my night for shooting. For whatever reason I kept getting camera shake. I blame the tripod, but who really knows? I was pretty cold and clumsy due to numb hands. I've finally invested in a remote, so I won't have to shoot on a timer anymore at least. I might even be able to do star trails now!!

I had every intention of going out and having a good time this evening.

The Moscow airshow (officially called the Moscow International Aviation and Space Salon) is like a Cold War spies wet dream. Most of the current russian airforce makes an appearance, along with some of the other exotic stuff that you dont get to see so often on the other side of the curtain.

When Mrs. O'Leary's cow kicked the lantern

In Chicago town

They say that started the fire

That burned Chicago down

That's the story that went around

But here's the real low-down

Put the blame on Mame, boys

Put the blame on Mame

Mame kissed a buyer from out of town

That kiss burned Chicago down

So you can put the blame on Mame, boys

Put the blame on Mame
