Here's the scanned and enlarged image I used as a pattern, alongside my embroidered version. Not bad, if I do say so myself!

Lady Amie Sparrow displayed an Indian scroll and an (in-progress) blackwork embroidered caul. See also Martelle's photo.
First band done. This one is a little slow to work - the pattern has a lot of vertical movement . I really like the effect of it, though. This is from "New Carolingian Modelbook", with a small change to the outside edge.
Half the first band done, starting on the next. I modified this pattern from "New Carolingian" to make the 'tree' between the crosses symmetrical? Reversible? Oh, well, like you see it here... The foot on my embroidery stand is broken, and am having to work in a ring. Not really what I want to do, but I don't want to wait for a new frame to start either. I am happy with progress so far - have to stop and rest my eye frequently, and watch too much TV.

This is the center band. It's a useful pattern - reversible, and pretty much infinitely expandable. I may use this one again (and do it reversible) for some church linens. Of course first I have to finish this!
In 2020 I joined a stitching group on Facebook called Peppermint Purple. It was created by a designer in UK named Clare. She has an online shop with the same name where you can buy kits and/or patterns created by her. This is a SAL (stitchalong) in which she shared a part of the design each Wednesday throughout the year. Each stitcher chose fabric and floss colors, border choices and what words to put in the text areas.
