I saw this work in my mom's old magazine and tried it . I liked it a lot but it took 3 to 4 weeks to finish.

Two-thread Holbein stitches in 2-ply over linen. The motif is about 15 mm tall. Hemstitched.

Set of two given to Jack's mentor, Corbin de la Rue, and Corbin's lady, Ysabel de Sainctecroix.

Color and pattern test for the new rushnyk. I'm not 100% happy with the "scarlet" color (the filling for the assisi work band) will try for another tomorrow when I can see them in daylight to choose.

Gives an idea of the workings of the Holbein stitch. Yeah, I pulled out what I'd already done; honestly, this is 100% better and I'm much happier with it.

Part of a series about the lives of military wives. More information is available on the blog. See profile for address.

Needlepoint and blackwork interpretation of Roman Mosaic found in Bath, England

I need to decide which of these will be displayed as the back and which as the front. They are each a piece of a diptych, except one needs to have the back exposed instead of the front. I'm leaning towards the bottom one as the back and the top as the front, what do you think?

This was a delight to stitch due in part to the bright colours.

It was my first foray into Blackwork stitchery and really love the effect.

Pattern was from designer Lesley Teare.

Stitched on 28 count DMC Linen Natural with DMC threads and Mill Hill beads.

Finished as a flat fold by my husband.

Was gifted as a birthday present to my neighbour who turned 90 today.

MK map sampler finished - blogged here!

This is a photo of a blackwork sampler I did back in 1989. It was fun to do, now I wish I had done it in black though. I hope to get more of my TAST stitches done today once my work is done. What is everyone up to?
