"'Blackwork' or monochrome silk embroidery on white linen was a fashionable embellishment for dress in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. The repeating pattern on this panel displays flora typical of embroideries of the period: honeysuckle, pansies, borage and grapes."
Stitched with variegated Caron Widflowers thread, Painted Desert, for a birthday card.

Embroidered collar started 7 years ago. Got about halfway done and stopped. Picking it up again now.

My blackwork that I started ages ago - and as I posted a picture when I started I can see just how long it took me! About 2 years as I'm not sure how long it had been when I took the first pic.

The little blackwork fox, rear leg almost done. Chest on its way, with a floral / leaves design (all designs courtesy of Kim Brody Salazar).
