pasta with pork, eryngii and black sesame. And a bun.
Today I brought my powerbook to Apple service center.
I'm tired.....after it comes back, I think about the external HDD.
Well, this day's photo was still remained in the camera! Lucky!
I myself can be fine with "yummy photo", so I wish you can be so too! ;-)
パスタなんだけど、焼きそばみたい??おいしかったですよ♪
Making this picnic took a lot longer than I thought it would. There are five layers, but one of them was a 'leftover' layer and contained all the odds and ends we had leftover. I'd like to think there was something for everyone in this bento, and as one of my friends is allergic to fish, I had to make sure the chicken layer was totally seperate!
Doro wat (Ethiopian chicken stew) served with a little brown rice.
Tomato soup (Pacific brand).
Mixed green salad with miso ginger vinaigrette (packaged), calendula petals, and black sesame seeds.
Apple and walnuts.
2007 black sesame spongecake and miso 1361
Pull off the sides or scrunched together to form one bite, this was a moist spongy, nutty cake (possibly made in the microwave? yes?) topped with a dollop of thick miso sauce. The entire course was savoury bordering sweet, but 100% nutty lovely.
After the rather hard/tough giant cookie crusted mochi breads I bought on my last visit to T&T's bakery, I found these half dozen packs on my return. I opted out of trying the pepto bismol looking cranberry mochi, nor the cheese, green tea nor chocolate (boo allergies) mochi, and went for the black sesame version.
These were much better, being chewy and moist, but I think I like the mid-sized versions I'd had from BnC bakery.
A icy frozen sake pond laid beneath crunchy candied raspberries (like they were freeze dried then coated with a sour candy) and crispy, toasted black sesame cookies (which gave a sweet, almost burnt flavour). Together the crunchy toppings with the sorbet like mildly sweet sake granita cleansed the palate. It was simple, refreshing and delightful.
the truth is infact stranger - black sesame seed. I believe the japanese mentions several other black things that together make this unappertizing coating.
It smells like pepper but taste like cream!

A handful of toasted black sesame seeds adds such a delicious note to my Double - Dark Chocolate Sesame Cakes that I veganized adapted from fieldsofcake.blogspot.com/2009/03/iron-cupcake-earth-marc...

When I taste dozens of pastries each day, I rarely eat more than one bite or my "wardrobe malfunctions". So you know when something is really, really good, when you can't stop eating until it's gone.
Thin seaweed shells were filled with yuzu (update: thanks to the Ulterior Epicure the contents were the following: lemon wedge and black sesame paste) served over a bed of black sesame seeds. It was a cross between a crispy thin savoury Japanese cracker (soy seasoned) and a sheet of nori.
