A bit of an oddity in my photographic collection. In mid November 1981 I damaged my Achilles tendon playing football and ended up immobilised at home for a few weeks. With my wife out at work during the day it was for me an early version of the current Covid 19 lockdown, with me being “confined to barracks”. To relieve the boredom I spent a few hours producing this image of an old Ian Allen 6x4 postcard that I had acquired in the late 1960’s. No fancy scanners in 1981, this was done by basically taking a photograph of the postcard using my Canon AT1 SLR on a tripod with a x2 extension tube on the standard 50mm lens utilising Kodachrome 64 35mm transparency film. Not a bad result all in all I would say
The postcard depicts a Midland Railway express out of St Pancras hauled by Compound 4-4-0 1013 sometime between 1919 and 1923.

Gather what ye may of the world around you, but when it whithers and dies you'll have naught left but dusty remains.

another one from te crazy hangbridge in Garzweiler.
I had to climb a little illigal bit to make this one.
These are bits and pieces of three clematis blossoms that my son donated to my project. He has been so generous by letting me collect flowers from his yard. This entry is 58/100. I am glad I still have a little less than half of my project left. There is still much to explore and discover, I love the whole process.
The shack outback. I found this old storage shed behind a run down house that had some very "interesting" artwork spray painted on the walls. This little shed was actually a lot more comforting than the house, which was rather eirie... My wife thinks that I need to find someone to watch my back when I go to these places (but I'm kind of an introvert)

Yes, that is all that is left of the former coastline, bits and pieces.

It is very evident these days how a little bit of light can add so much to an image. This image was taken on another rare blue sky day we had in November when we hiked a waterfall in a national park. It was cold enough to form icicles along the path leading to the top of the falls. Although most of the path was shaded, there was enough light to create the blue color in the icicles. These days it is a challenge to take images with very little light and no moody atmosphere in our days. I even welcome some colder temperatures for macro shots of ice. Meanwhile, we shall start thinking of plans for our next road trip in 2025. We hope to visit a few more national parks in Canada.
Bit of a niche thing I know, but this is honestly one of my favorite shots.
No static pose or anything, he was actually flying around the sim when I snapped this.

A bit of an obscure operation in the St Louis area is Patriot Rail's West Belt Railway. WBRW has a switching contract from the TRRA to operate between Carrie Ave out to Rock Island Jct in suburban Overland, MO. They begin work in the wee hours in the morning with their biggest customer being the ADM mill at Shreve Ave. Inbound loads of grains and outbound loads of flour can make for lots of switching work. LNW 3806 is working the flour tracks.
TRRA still owns this trackage that was once operated as double track and hosted trains of the TRRA and Rock Island along with passenger trains of the Wabash.
