Looking a bit serious in this one, think its because the camera was playing up and I didn't know if the timer was on two shots or not.
Bit disappoint yet happy too because this jacket is now too big (yay) but I like it so I am slightly miffed :-(
Oh well I could always get it altered.
This outfit has made me remember that this look actually works for me and that I should wear clothes like this more often.
I will be boring you with this set but I will break it up a little and post some other pics in between.
A bit of a treat for the train nerds today.
While DXR 8007 in its original form was a frequent visitor to Dunedin for a while in the late 90s, the rebuilt (and rebuilt!) DXRs have never led trains too far below Christchurch/Rolleston that I'm aware of. They have ventured to Hillside for bogie changes before, but as you can't escape out the front windows in an emergency, they are banned from leading through long tunnels like the Mihiwaka.
Sure, in this incarnation the pair of DXRs are hardly going to win any beauty contests, but hey, its something different. So with a hint, a little help from some friends and favourable logistics being dealt, DXR 8022 put on a show for the assembled, running what might turn out to be its only train ever down here, leading from Waitati northwards.
While the Train Gods kindly supplied a reasonable length triple, the Weather Gods were in a fickle mood, throwing spring storms around for most of the afternoon.

Hello to my favorite group on Flickr! i am sorry i have been a lousy visitor to your photos but things...good things for a change...are happening in my life right now. I need to focus a bit here and see them through, because they are things i have dreamed of for a very long time. I recently have begun to REALLY try hard to make those come true. I seem to be in the right place and at the right time, stars are aligning...reinforcing my idea that i truly was a misplaced southern soul when i was in Jersey. i promise to get back into this, as soon as the dust settles here.
My artistic endeavors are beginning to pay off, and i could not be more excited (or scared!!). i love the thought that people are intrigued and accepting of my art here, and i am getting used to that....now comes the hard part. Stepping out of the teensy tiny comfort zone of being in front of people. I am making slow progress...and it gets a tiny bit easier as i go...but it really does give me pause when i have too much time to anticipate it! I will always be much more comfortable alone, with just with one or two friends or my cats, or books for company. I just need to get to the point that i can self talk myself thru the hopefully limited outings i need to do in front of people!

Good morning, I took this one last night because i got the dress the Friday from a charity shop, It an old Hell Bunny dress and a large so should be a UK14 think again sherlock seems they used to be a little different few years back. its closer a 12 in all truth all be it a large 12. I can just about squeeze into it. I know i have put a bit of chunk on but other HB dresses that are the same size fit better.
Off out this morning i think for the first time since my accident . when i say out i mean a proper punt around the shops. Just hope my trotter stands upto the walking.

This lens is very fine in the darkroom for printing, but the Bokeh is not good at all – much better with the 80 mm Rodenstock and 150 mm Componon S – see next pictures.

This has a bit of a staged look, but originally I thought I was just taking a candid shot of the woman reclining on her scooter. Then I noticed the man on the left was in the middle of an animated phone conversation in which he was kind of dancing around. Spotted at the Brick Works

Bit of a break from the Shingle Street shots, this is one from the way into work this morning, took a quick detour to moorgate. The little shape at the top is a window cleaner. You certainly wouldnt get me up there..

Took this at Fewston yesterday in the mist. A shot normally taken as wide as you can but I wanted to show the colour in the trees. Not sure if it works just a bit of a play!
From the archives - this shot was taken on the rim of Bryce Canyon National Park at sunset. I used 32-bit HDR, Lightroom, Photoshop, onOne and NIK tools to finish.

I remember having a lot of difficulty finding a supplier that stocked this dress in my size. I eventually found one but was slightly disappointed when I realised (too late) the bust-line is a bit big and the dress keeps slipping down at the back. Very annoying!
Compared to one of its first duties following its repaint . on the Wilton - Knowsley binliner the Sunday 6V60 Tees Yard - Cardiff Tidal is a bit of an upgrade . Tucked inside is 66054 as the consist passes through Rotherham Masbrough , crew change round the corner at Masbrough FD .

A wonderful sunset at Zabriskie point from a quick visit to DVNP last year. I already posted one image from this evening last year, but I found the incredible folded landscape at Zabriskie so mesmerizing I felt like processing another shot from there.
One of my favorite book/radio series is the "Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy" and in one of the later chapters our hapless heroes (and heroine) meet Slartybartfast (Adams had a great knack for names) who was a "planet designer" specializing in designing fjords, and was especially proud of having won an award for Earth's Norwegian fjords, and described them as having "Lovely crinkly edges". I may have misremembered it as "crinkly bits" or maybe there's some difference between the radio show and books. Regardless, that phrase stuck in my head as I worked on the photo because these are also truly lovely crinkly bits, just at a different scale than the fjords.
For anyone who has not had the pleasure, I refer you to the original BBC radio series as the best way to appreciate it. The books are also good. Various TV and movie renditions much less so. Douglas' Adams writing is a uniquely delightful blend of funny, silly, quirky, deeply insightful and (it turns out) in some odd ways profoundly prescient (the "infinite improbability drive" seems like a fantastically funny take on the strangeness of quantum theory).
Two bits times 2 = Four bits. It was worth it. I gave this couple a couple of quarters to feed the ducks and keep them busy while I circled around the cement pond to get in position for this shot. Money well spent.
