I am a bit disappointed with this. I saw the scene of the man and his kid walking up the path and knew that the composition could be good, but I had the fisheye lens on my 'proper' camera, and didn't have time to change it. So I used the IR camera. It kind of works, but the amount of processing required by the IR has left it a bit grainy for my liking. Plus I have lost my 750nm filter, so I had to use the crappy Hoya R72.

Suggestions for better titles will be greatly appreciated.

A bit of an abstract shot of approximately 60 Goldfinches foraging for seeds. Not sure how it happened but most of them seem to be in the focal plane, pity they were going in the opposite direction.

It was a bit misty morning, quite a calm and relaxing one. I was enjoying my walkabout with a camera, trying to make the most of the time the mist was drifting around.

Sometimes, when I’m out taking images, I overdrive myself in walking, taking shots, looking for compositions… I do it in every possible way. I’m afraid I will regret not taking some shots if the conditions are favourable, so-called FOMO (fear of missing out). And then I come home completely exhausted in that way that I don’t have the energy the whole day, sometimes, to even transport my images to the computer and have a glance at them. I do that the next day. Then I became overwhelmed with the amount of photos I’ve got. It happens every time…

Because of that, I’m now looking to save energy as much as I can. If there is not a thick, dense fog I evaluate the scene I see in front of me or in the distance. Should I go there, maybe I should get back around, that sort of thinking. All those locations where I’m going I pretty much know by now so I can rely on that. And if there is a thick, dense fog, well, I totally pressure myself. I can’t help it then. It is stronger than me. My brain is working fast, I’m sweating like it’s mid-summer and so on…

Anyway, to get back on this shot. The mist was clearing away and I stood on the part of the forest where I observed the surroundings. At one point I was at the shore of the river looking if there was some atmosphere in the part of the forest across, on the other side of the river. I didn’t see any, but I noticed this lovely glow in the air, as some moisture was obviously still there. It was just at the time some light hit out the trees across. I decided to not go any further, but maybe there was an actual shot from where I was standing, I thought. I’ve never shot this composition before, so it’s always fun when you find something new in a familiar location. I took a few images and after seeing them on my computer screen back home, they looked decent to me.

I like the interaction among the trees here, and how the main subject tree is a bit twisty. Colours and light are lovely. The only downside is that blue patch on the up left that I could not be bothered to cover in the post. All in all, a fine morning well spent with a camera among the trees.

Little bit frustrated by current cloudy weather so this is a reprocess of an image from the last TLE in Ireland.

Interesting how the stars reappeared as the Moon got darker.

On the Danjon Scale on Lunar Eclipses, this was probably a 4 (out of 4):

3 - Brick-red eclipse. Umbral shadow has a bright or yellow rim.

4 - Very bright copper-red or orange eclipse. Umbral shadow has a bluish very bright rim.

Bit of a mystery concerning this AW139. Possibly ship-based as it came off the Fraser and has previously been shot at Vancouver harbour and at Sarasota/FL.

Bit of a learning curve this trip - if they say you need chains you need chains. I ventured into the park but turned around at the top when it started snowing - next time I'll make sure I have chains on board. Anyhoo the change in the weather meant a nice afternoon show.

A bit of a sad day when Siefferts Farm is closed till spring time. I saw these carved pumpkins in their field the other day. They always close November 10, the day before Remembrance Day in Canada. I will miss them...I love seeing them bringing all kinds of fresh organic veggies and fruit as they pick them.

Years ago, I had a wonderful spring trip to the Okanagan. There I saw some special birds who all had a little blue to their color display.

A experiment that I came across

The universe seems to revolve around Tsé Bit A'í ( Navajo Name ) or Shiprock as it is more commonly known.

Shiprock or ( Tsé Bit A'í ) is a volcanic plug that rises 1583 feet above the desert floor. It was formed thousands of feet below the earths surface some 27 million years ago, but erosion has exposed it after millions of years.

Tsé Bit A'í the Navajo name means "rock with wings" or "winged rock" refers to the legend of the great bird that brought the Navajo from the north to their present lands. The name "Shiprock" or Shiprock Peak or Ship Rock derives from the peak's resemblance to an enormous 19th-century clipper ship

Shiprock and the surrounding land have religious and historical significance to the Navajo people. It is mentioned in many of their myths and legends. Foremost is the peak's role as the agent that brought the Navajo to the southwest

This was taken during a workshop with a Navajo Guide and permit.

The North Star is situated just above the peak of shiprock. The North Star will stay stationary while all the other stars appear to rotate around it.

I carry a really cheap set of neutral density filters in my bag, just for this kind of shot. They have a magenta cast when several are used together, this shot used an ND4 (2 stop), a ND8 (3 stop) and a GND8 (3 stop graduated)
