This little tableau was on top of a cupboard in G's dad's house. The light was just crazy, which almost comes across here.

* Sunpak 622 with eBay 89b filter taped on. (Note: I suspect this filter may not really be acting like an 89b, but I'm not sure. In any case, it's quite thick, and as a result seems to be creating quite a bit of light loss.)

* Voigtlander Bessa R with 35mm f/1.7 Ultron. Hoya R72 on lens.

* Prefocused on door.

* Shot wide open, flash full. (Note: As you can see, this yields roughly correct exposure at about 4-5', but is underexposed at 8-10', where the point focus is.)

* Efke IR820 Aura -- 10.75min. at 67.5 degrees f. in D-76 1:1

Conclusion: This flash/filter combination does not have enough power to really make for practical shooting in most situations. The working distance is too short even wide open, except for extremely intimate camera positions, i.e., within arm's reach of the subject.

I will try again with the Sunpak, IR820, and a Lee #87 gel filter. B&H recently shipped me one that had been on backorder.

Hopefully, nobody is having a sad week or indeed a little fed up but what do you do to brighten up those dark days!

Now, we know of someone who can brighten up those days with a little bit of chocolate but you might prefer a strong cup of tea or coffee or maybe a walk along the beach. I also know someone who smiles when she receives a lovely bouquet of flowers!! Don’t be sad let’s have fun!

These flowers are really common here in Singapore. Most of the time they don't look interesting to me but not this time. It might be the storm clouds approaching from behind that made them more....appealing :)

Many pelicans fish by swimming in cooperative groups. They may form a line or a "U" shape and drive fish into shallow water by beating their wings on the surface. When fish congregate in the shallows, the pelicans simply scoop them up.

We all are inter-connected and inter-related. With detreating wildlife, humans will be left with a dark future. Happy World Wildlife Day!
