The Painted Spurfowl (Galloperdix Lunulata) is a bird of the Pheasant family found in rocky hill and scrub forests mainly in peninsular India.
Males are more brightly coloured and spotted boldly in white. Males have two to four spurs while females can have one or two of the spurs on their tarsus.
The species is found mainly in rocky and scrub forest habitats unlike the red spurfowl.
It is found in the undergrowth in pairs or small groups, escaping by running and rarely taking to the wing when flushed.
They feed on berries, seeds, tubers, drupes, small mollusks, insects and flowers.

Voici quelques photos de notre promenade au Marais d'Harchies sous un beaux manteau blanc en Janvier 2024.
Le Marais d'Harchies est une zone humide située en Belgique, plus précisément en région Wallonne, près du village d'Harchies dans la province du Hainaut. C'est une réserve naturelle importante pour la biodiversité de la région.
Écosystème diversifié : Le Marais d'Harchies abrite une grande variété d'espèces végétales et animales. En raison de son statut de zone humide, il soutient une flore et une faune riches, comprenant des espèces végétales aquatiques, des oiseaux migrateurs, des amphibiens et bien d'autres.
Réserve naturelle protégée : Le marais est classé comme réserve naturelle protégée en raison de sa valeur écologique. Cela signifie qu'il est soumis à des réglementations spéciales pour protéger son environnement fragile.
Activités de conservation et d'éducation : Des efforts sont déployés pour préserver et protéger le Marais d'Harchies. Des organisations locales et des autorités gouvernementales peuvent être impliquées dans la gestion de la réserve. A quiet moment with a Common Chiffchaff, perching fleetingly along a lichen-encrusted wooden rail. Capturing these nimble little warblers requires plenty of patience, but catching one illuminated against a soft, natural backdrop makes the wait out in the field entirely worthwhile.

Peafowl, large birds, prefer ground for berries, insects, lizards and snakes. But do fly when sense danger and rapid escape but can run faster as well.
