The plumage of the Eastern Rosella is especially vividly coloured — red and yellow and blue and green and black. Despite this bold coloration, when rosellas are feeding on the ground among the grass or perched among the foliage in the treetops they can be very difficult to see, often seeming to disappear completely into the background. Despite their bright colours, their plumage is patterned so that it creates an extremely effective camouflage which assists the birds in avoiding detection by potential predators.

The Greyish Saltator (Saltator coerulescens) is a seed-eating songbird that is widespread in the tropical Americas. Traditionally placed in the cardinal family (Cardinalidae), the saltators actually seem to be closer to the tanagers (Thraupidae). In El Salvador, it is well known as dichosofui after the "elaborate" version of its call, which sounds like a drawn-out ¡dichoso fui!, Spanish for "I was happy!" Source: Wikipedia

Small sparrow sized bird that spends its time searching amongst undergrowth for small seeds and invertebrates. Quite common in gardens and open countryside, it has a very piercing but southing song, often heard on sunny mornings and evenings.

I can't even imagine how lucky I was. It's one of the finest moments of my life. Seeing him flying towards me, it almost felt like his beak was touching my nose. He was looking right into my eyes even through the lens. I am not sure I will get another opportunity like this, but I will cherish this memory forever.
The watchful eye of the Eurasian Jay. A flash of brilliant blue in the woodland quiet.
Patience is often the name of the game in wildlife photography, but sometimes it’s about pushing your gear to the limit. I spotted this Eurasian Jay deep in the woodland shadows where the light was fading fast.
To capture the detail in its plumage without losing the mood, I had to drop the shutter speed down to a precarious 1/3200 sec. It was a gamble, but the Jay stayed perfectly still for just a heartbeat, allowing the Nikon D4s and Sigma 150-600mm to catch that glint in its eye. A little bit of post-processing in Lightroom helped bring out those iconic blue wing coverts and the warmth of the morning light filtering through the canopy.
The red-vented bulbul (Pycnonotus cafer) is a medium-sized songbird found primarily in South Asia and parts of Southeast Asia. Recognizable by its black head, brown body, and distinctive red vent, this bird is known for its cheerful, varied calls. They typically inhabit gardens, scrublands, and forest edges, often seen in pairs or small groups. These birds are also known for their adaptability and can thrive in urban environments. Their diet mainly consists of fruits, insects, and nectar.!
