This handsome bird gracefully awaiting the returning fishermen for his next meal on the beautiful dock at Seward, Alaska.
Red-shouldered Hawk. We went to shoot flowers today, but forgot our membership card to the Gardens, so we took a short walk around our local park. What serendipity! We first saw two birds entangled in mid-air that fell to the ground right in front of us! One was stunned and lay on the ground for a bit. It was a Brown-headed Nuthatch. After a bit he/she shook off the cobwebs and flew back into the tree. Then we saw two Red-shouldered Hawks atop a pine tree! They continued to fly nearby, along with a third hawk. What a productive half hour!
I made this for BZPower's BBCC, the goal of which was to build a bird. I wussed out when it came to making wings so I decided to go with a terror bird. Possibly the most aptly named animal ever?

Been working hard a little bit each day just getting the trust of the bird. And with out putting the camera down its beak I think I should leave it about there

A bit of a learning curve for this experienced bird shooter.
